US election: Melania Trump ‘plagiarised’ Michelle Obama
Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, took centre stage on the first day of the Republican National Convention but faced accusations that a portion of her speech plagiarised Michelle Obama.
Commentators noticed similarities with Mrs Obama’s 2008 convention speech.
Mrs Trump’s speech also praised her husband as a “compassionate” man who would “fight for the country”.
But Mr Trump’s team said Mrs Trump used “common words” and blamed Hillary Clinton for the row.
“There’s no cribbing of Michelle Obama’s speech,” said Paul Manafort, Mr Trump’s campaign manager.
It was her first speech of the campaign and she had the help of a speechwriting team.
Earlier, Mr Trump’s communications adviser Jason Miller issued a statement saying: “In writing her beautiful speech, Melania’s team of writers took notes on her life’s inspirations, and in some instances included fragments that reflected her own thinking.
“Melania’s immigrant experience and love for America shone through in her speech, which made it such a success.”
Meanwhile Mr Trump himself described her speech as “absolutely incredible”.

It’s obvious that you’re anti Trump and I suppose that if I was a terrorist, OR a Muslim whom does not speak out against Islamic terrorism, OR a Muslim that secretly wishes for Sharia law in the USA ( I can’t believe that it’s even discussed as a possibility. ) OR a Muslim that knows of illegal Islamic activity in Muslim communities and Mosques, OR a Muslim who is a welfare mooch, etc…then I would be anti Trump, too. Why? Because, 1) Trump WILL be elected. 2) Americans have had enough of your Islamic sniveling and demands for rights that non Muslims do not have and never would demand. 3) Because the majority of Americans have had enough of Islam this and Islam that, the people will insist that ANY of you that does not swear allegiance to our flag/country, renounce Sharia, remounted Jihad, renounce Pedophilia, renounce rape, assimilate into society, instead of making little Islamic caliphates throughout our country, that you will be summarily jailed and deported to the Islamic shithole of your choice. We’ll gladly pay the one-way fare to that desert shithole!
We, collectively have had enough of you and your endless demands, your endless sniveling, your endless cries of “Racism”, when Islam is not a race, dah. I used to like a few Muslims, but they’ve been radicalized. They started their anti-American rants right in front of me. They were happy on 9/11. ENOUGH!!
