Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Chicago Reaching Out for Peace
“We should be all cooperative with TSA and law enforcement agencies. Safety of all citizen is Paramount”, said Imam Shamshad.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Chicago hosted an outreach event in which federal government’s various law enforcement agencies, in collaboration with local organizations, hold informational and educational sessions to elaborate different services these agencies provide to local communities.
The event was held in Masjid Baitul Jammay of Chicago on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:30 PM.
Representatives of the following agencies participated in the program:
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI);
Homeland Security Department;
United States Attorneys’ Office; and
Transportation Safety Administration (TSA).
Additionally:
The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago,
Durani Foundation,
FBI Chicago
Citizens Academy Alumni Association,
and few other local Muslim leaders also attended the event.
One speaker traveled from Washington, DC, and some guests also came from Milwaukee, WI. In total, there were about forty guests.
The program started promptly at 2:00 PM, with a welcome address by National Vice President and the President of the south west Jama’at, Munum A Naeem.
In his opening remarks, President welcomed all guests and introduced Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. He briefly spoke about Jama’at’s three campaigns, namely Muslims for Peace, Muslims for Loyalty, and Muslims for Life. He also touched upon Humanity First, and various humanitarian services provided by Jama’at in different parts of the world.
The presentations of law enforcement agencies focused on civil rights, hate crimes, safety and security of the infrastructure, security clearance procedures at the airports, and communica-tion with law enforcement personnel at different levels.
Members of the audience asked interesting questions after each presentation; thus, made the program very interactive.
Imam Syed Shamshad A Nasir Sahib concluded the program with his closing remarks In his brief remarks, he made the point to follow the good intentions of the program with concrete efforts. He also mentioned Islamic perspective about respecting human beings regardless of the different issues being discussed in the world nowadays. Imam shamshad said that we should always cooperate with TSA and other law enforcement ageneses because all efforts are done for the security of all citizens and security of all is paramount and should accept all kind of inconveniences gladly.
Imam also said that: No efforts will be fruitful without prayers.
He then read some prayers from Quran and Sayings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) and lead all in silent prayers.
Some guests were presented a book on Peace by His holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad
All guests were served light lunch and refreshments.
Feedback of all guests was extremely positive and appreciative. The program was a successful one, Al’humdulillah
