ICB

It isn’t often that you can gather a herd of ICBians in public and somehow get them to appear civilised at best, but despite the challenge, we have finally achieved just this.

To be precise, we managed this feat on the 25th of April, commonly referred to as Anzac Day. An assortment of students ranging from years 3 to 12 attended the Sunnybank RSL Service, and two of our students participated in the actual service itself. College Captain, Nadia Saeed was asked to speak on the ceremony about the importance of ANZAC remembrance in front of 6,000 people. It was an honour in itself attending both the march (which we totally dominated with 15 students) or listening to the service, alongside our principalDr Barrett and teachers Mr Albertson, Ms Wong, Mrs Ali and Ms Dean.Sarah Gardener

ICB seniors welcomed Mount Alvernia College girls and the Padua College boys for the fifth consecutive year as an ongoing friendship between our schools. With around 140 students visiting we enjoyed a fun and religiously diverse day.  Imam Zeeyads speech,Kifli’s Islamic quiz, and an interactive session of talking and discussing our religions and beliefs made us understand and appreciate our diversities better.

3The Padua Boys were taken in groups of 15 for an exclusive tour around our massive school. During this time, the girls were given a tutorial on how to wear a hijab. Of course, the highlight of the day would have to be the lunch, courtesy of Imam, Mrs Dean, Mr Andy and Robin and the 35kgs of sausages. As always in true ICB fashion, the food always makes the day.

Ramadan is a time to pause, reflect and change our lives for the better. It is a chance for us to get closer to our creator and boost our spiritual selves.
