Qadian: A Member of Parliament and former Foreign Minister of State, Mr. Vinod Khanna, came to the Jama’at Ahmadiyya Headquarter in Qadian today, April 11, where they were welcomed by the Ahmadiyya leadership at the community’s official guest house, Langar Khana Hadhrat Masih-e Maood (as) .

MP Khanna, who represents Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab state in northern India, came with Jathedar Sewa Singh Sekhwan, Ex-Cabinet Minister Punjab, to review the progress on Qadian-Beas Railway Line Extension Project.

Maulana Mohammad Inaam Ghori, Chief Secretary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat India, warmly welcomed the guests and Mr. Shiraz Ahmad, Education Secretary of the community, briefed the lawmaker about the teachings of Islam and Ahmadiyyat.

Several senior elders of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community were present also at the reception for MP Khanna in Qadian, including Mohammad Nasim Khan, Secretary Internal-External Affairs of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Chaudhry Abdul Wasay Chattah, Deputy Secretary, Hafiz Makhdoom Sharief, and Mohammad Akram Gujrati.

MP Khanna, a popular politician with a strong background in the Bollywood entertainment industry, attracted a large contingency of reporters from the print and electronic media who took turns in interviewing him.

The lawmaker told the reporters that he was very happy to have come to Ahmadiyya Headquarters again and explained that he has come to Qadian to inspect the Qadian-Beas Railway Line Extension Project survey. MP Khanna assured the peoples of the area that railway line project is alive and the work will commence after the acquisition of land.

The project, which was the brainchild of pre-Partition Ahmadi Muslim leader from India, Sir Muhammad Zafarulla Khan, was first sanctioned in the pre-independence era during 1928-29.

While Sir Muhammad Zafarulla Khan went on to become the first foreign minister of Pakistan, the first Muslim president for both the UN General Assembly and also the International Court of Justice, the Qadian-Beas Railway Line Extension Project in India was delayed after Partition and has remained on back-burner for over eight decades.

However, the new-age politicians of the Punjab are now realizing the benefits of the project and making sure the railway track would finally see the light of day.
