Dawn: LAHORE: A sessions court on Friday awarded death penalty to a man for blasphemy and acquitted another giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Mughalpura police had registered a case under Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) in 2012 against Abdul Shakoor and Liaqat Ali. Complainant Shaukat Mahmood had accused them of committing a blasphemy.
Announcing the verdict, Additional District and Sessions Judge Naveed Iqbal awarded capital punishment to Liaqat Ali and acquitted Shakoor giving him the benefit of the doubt.
