AMMAN — The Muslim Brotherhood on Sunday urged Jordanians to unite against the “conspiracy to settle the Palestinian issue” that threatens Jordanian sovereignty.

In a statement issued by the movement and its political arm, the Islamic Action Front, the Islamists urged the government to reveal the “truth” behind US Secretary of State John Kerry’s project and not to capitulate to compromises that come at the expense of Jordan’s independence and security.

The movement reiterated its rejection of surrendering any part of Palestine, stressing that honest jihad (holy war) is the only means to retrieve it.

The Islamists urged the Palestinian people to unite around a Muslim national resistance that will lead to the full liberation of Palestine.

Palestinians in the Diaspora and in Palestine should fight the conspiracy to ignore their right to return to their country, the statement said, stressing that theirs is a legitimate, non-negotiable right guaranteed by all monotheistic religions, international laws and decisions.

Muslim and Arab countries should shoulder their national and pan-Arab responsibilities towards the “holy Palestinian cause”, assisting the Palestinian people in their “valiant resistance”, the Brotherhood added in the statement, posted on the movement’s website.

Political parties, professional associations and Palestinian factions should take a clear stand regarding the “catastrophic US-Zionist plan”, the Islamists said, urging them to put aside their differences and reach common ground against this “conspiracy”.

The movement voiced its rejection of political corruption, which it said includes alienating the people, monopolising power and supporting agreements that are in the interest of “our enemies”.

“The first step on the path of liberation and return… is implementing real and comprehensive reform that returns power to the hands of the people,” the statement said.
