USA as a Christian nation

The view that the United States never claimed to be a “Christian nation” has become prevalent and expected. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

In a previous letter, I provided quotes from Founding Fathers showing otherwise.

The following are passages from a number of the original state constitutions.

• Delaware: “Every person … appointed to any office … shall … subscribe … ‘I … profess faith in God the Father, and in Jesus Christ His only Son, and in the Holy Ghost, one God, blessed for evermore; and I do acknowledge the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be given by Divine inspiration.’”
