King Bhumibol Adulyadej – life in pictures King Rama XI

On June 9, 1946, aged just 18, King Bhumibol ascended to the throne following the death of his brother. He postponed his coronation until 1950 to complete his studies in Switzerland, by which time Thailand was under military rule and the future of the monarchy was shaky. The King, who is also known as King Rama XI, is pictured here on May 5, 1950 at his coronation.

  1. Jazakullah for sharing this.
It will be interesting to note that 50 years before (June 1963), our missionaries of Singapore presented him the Holy Quran(English commentary) and ‘Life of Muhammad’ along with a memorandum inviting him to Islam. Both the memorandum and his response are part of History of Ahmadiyyat.

Happy Birth Day to the longest-reigning living monarch!
