ISLAMABAD: Officially, little came out from Saturday’s meeting between the incoming premier, Nawaz Sharif, and army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. The Express Tribune, however, learnt on Sunday that the two sides agreed to ‘overhaul’ the country’s national security and foreign policies.

During the meeting, which lasted three-and-half hours, at Sharif’s Model Town residence in Lahore, the PML-N chief told Kayani that he plans to revisit the policies of the previous administration that have “not only damaged Pakistan’s relations with other countries but also hurt its national interest”.

A close aide to Nawaz told The Express Tribune that the security establishment will hold a detailed briefing on major national security and foreign policy issues for the new government once it is formally sworn in.

  1. Overhauling of policies of the past rulers often remain unfulfilled pious wishes.Whenever Pakistani people are given the right to vote and chose their rulers, they mostly make correct decisions. But the new rulers, may be ‘Bhuttos’ or ‘Shareef’ or ‘na-Shareef’, when the new rulers find themselves safe in seats of authority, they forget the problems of ‘Mazloom Awam’ and start bowing before different groups of ‘Mafias’, as we see presently, Nawaz league, despite getting absolute majority in National Assembly, they are madly running after the help of Mullah. This is shameful sight. Despite knowing well that Mullah had opposed and is still against the safety and consolidation of Pakistan. He is still found making dirty ‘scheming’ through their own creation the fighting force of ‘Taalban’ and they are always aimed to weaken the country by their foul, selfish greedy demands of this or that pasandeeda,’Sarkari mehkama’.
