Ahmadis living in sheltor for seven years denied right to vote

Mataram: Over 70 Ahmadis living in the temporary shelter in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), cannot use their voting rights in the election of Governor of NTB. They do not have the right to complain even as citizens of Indonesia.

“We asked for treatment as an Indonesian citizen and participate in governor election,” pleaded Syahidin, a resident who met Metro TV on Friday (10/5).

Syahidin claims that the Ahmadis are in shelter for seven years and do not have the right to vote since they are not registered as permanent voters list and do not have ID cards as Indonesian citizens.

“We’ve tried to go to the Civil Registry Office but once they know I live in Transit I was dropped again,” Syahidin story.
