By the grace of Allah Almighty, Ahmadiyya Jama‘at of KAYA region, Burkina Faso (West Africa) held its very first interreligious peace conference on 22 November 2012 at the conference hall of Pacific Hotel KAYA. It was a great success. The representatives of all religions existing in Kaya were present and expressed their beliefs on the topic of “Peace” according to their respective religious doctrines. Many Government officials as the federal Minister for Human Rights, the Governor, civil judges, the regional chiefs of police, military and paramilitary forces, the regional heads of different NGOS, and the principals and the students of all schools and colleges and the a very large number population of Kaya also attended the conference.
As usual the proceeding started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, after that Mr. Hamid Maqsud Atif (Ahmadiyya Missionary) the representative of Islam delivered a very comprehensive speech explaining the beautiful teachings of Islam concerning Peace.
After him the representatives of protestant church, Catholic Church and the Atheist group expressed their beliefs.
In the end the federal minister expressed his feelings about this conference and said that he happened to be in kaya by chance for some other political activities, but when the Governor informed him of this conference he could not refuse, and now he thinks that he made a nice decision to attend the conference.
He said that he could never imagine that the dialogue between the religions were ever possible, and if the teachings of Islam which were presented by the Ahmadiyya Missionary are really true then it means that we had no knowledge of the true Islam. We always considered Islam as a religion of hate, terrorism and extremism. Today I am convinced through this conference that Islam means love affection and peace and I would like to thank and congratulate you for holding this very first interreligious peace conference.
