What would we do without health studies, which provide a steady source of evidence that no matter what you do in pursuit of good health and fitness, it’s wrong?

Here’ what I’ve:

Multivitamins will kill you:

All those vitamins you’re dutifully taking with your OJ each morning may not be doing as much good as you hope. In fact, a new study out of the United States has found that women taking multivitamins may even have slightly higher death rates than those getting their nutrients from food alone.

Author says: “Scared yet? Fortunately, wine and chocolate are good for everything. So drink up, and stay away from the fruit and fish”

There is more evidence that taking vitamin E pills can be risky. A study that followed up on men who took high doses of the vitamin for about five years found they had a slightly increased risk of prostate cancer — even after they quit taking the pills.

Apples are bad for your teeth, and fruit juice is worse than pop:

Eating apples and other acidic fruit, as well as drinking fruit juices, is roughly four times more potentially harmful to teeth than drinking pop, according to a study published by the U.K.’s Journalof Dentistry.

Surveying more than 1,000 men and women aged 18 to 30, the study found that apple eaters were 3.7 times more likely to suffer damage to their dentine (the layer of the tooth inside the enamel).

At the same time, it was shown that fruit juice was four times as damaging as pop, and lager beer three times as harmful.

Exercise and fish give you menopause:

Women who spend a lot of time exercising or eat a heart-healthy diet appear to reach menopause earlier, according to a Japanese study — findings that researchers say could be important for cancer prevention.
