Why do people choose to embrace Islam and what changes in their lives after they do?
A new initiative by the Ayaan Institute aims to answer these important questions. The Great British Convert Study, commissioned in partnership with iERA and the Convert Muslim Foundation, is set to offer one of the most in-depth looks yet at the experiences of Muslim converts across Britain.
With estimates suggesting anywhere between 30,000 and 150,000 people convert to Islam in the UK each year, the study will explore not only the numbers but also the journeys behind them. It will shed light on the positive transformations converts experience as well as the challenges they may face along the way.
As Research Director Yahya Birt explains, building this understanding is key to developing stronger support systems and institutions for the convert community.
