The governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke; the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar; and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, are scheduled to flag off the commencement of academic activities at Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun State, and the investiture of the institution’s pioneer vice-chancellor.
According to a statement signed by the Media Lead of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, Dr Qasim Akinreti, the inauguration ceremony of the university, alongside the investiture of its vice-chancellor, is slated for Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the temporary site of the university owned by the global Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
The Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, Alhaji Azeez Alatoye, will officially present the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdul Rahman Abdullah, to the academic community and host community in Ikirun.
Minaret University, Ikirun, is among the new private universities granted operating licences by the Federal Government last year.
The faith-based institution adds to the growing number of private universities in Osun State and Nigeria at large.
As part of the inauguration activities, the university will also launch its first publication on global peace, underscoring its vision as a centre of academic excellence in Nigeria and beyond.
The book, titled ‘The Super Powers: Geopolitics of World War and the Pathway to Peace’, is authored by Hafiz Yunus Omotayo, a missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria and a journalist.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is globally recognised for its commitment to the promotion of peace across the world.
The event is scheduled to commence at 10am at the Minaret University mini-campus along Ikirun-Offa Expressway, Ikirun.
