The Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Congregation (JMAI) has launched a book entitled Ahmadiyya Muslims and Indonesia: 100 Years of Religiousness & Humanitarian Work at Wisma Rahmat Ali, Central Jakarta on Tuesday (20/1/2026). The book launch featured a number of speakers from diverse backgrounds. The keynote speaker was Zaki Firdaus Sahid, ST, MT, National Amir of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

The discussion also featured young NU intellectual Hery Haryanto Azumi, Dean of the Faculty of Ushuludin at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and book editor Prof. Ismatu Ropi, interfaith figure Rev. Gomar Gultom, and young activist for diversity and gender issues Mila Muzakkar. The discussion was moderated by Dedy Ibmar, a PPIM researcher and book editor.

In addition, also present were the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2014–2019 period and author of the book, Dr. (HC) Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, Commissioner of the National Commission on Violence Against Women and author of the book, Daden Sukendar, representative of the North Jakarta Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB), Mr. Nur, as well as a number of other figures and invitees.

The book records the 100-year journey of the Ahmadiyya Muslim presence in Indonesia as a reflection of the encounters, friendships, and humanitarian work of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community with national figures, written by 100 non-Ahmadiyya Indonesian figures based on facts, direct experiences, and their involvement in various activities. One hundred years ago, the presence of Ahmadiyah in Indonesia began not with the arrival of Ahmadiyah to the archipelago, but with young people from the archipelago who came to Ahmadiyah in Qadian, Hindustan.

In 1923, three young graduates of the Sumatra Thawalib Padang Panjang school—Abu Bakar Ayyub, Ahmad Nuruddin, and Zaini Dahlan—set out to study and visit the second Caliph, Hadhrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra). Then, in 1924, dozens of Indonesian students were recorded as having arrived in Qadian to study at Jamia Ahmadiyah.

At a banquet with Hadhrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad ra, after his seclusion in introducing Ahmadiyya Islam in Europe, Indonesian students submitted a request to send missionaries to the East, including the archipelago. This request was then followed up by sending Maulana Rahmat Ali HAOT. The Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has launched a book entitled Ahmadiyya Muslims and Indonesia: 100 Years of Religiousness & Humanitarian Work in Jakarta.
