Amidst the disaster situation that hit Sumatra, the 2025 Jalsa Salana of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (JAI) Indonesia was still held in various regions.
Although several areas in Sumatra were affected by flooding, this annual series of events was held in 23 other locations across Indonesia. One of the events was held in Cipondoh, Tangerang City, Banten, which served as the gathering place for this year's congregation. National Amir of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Jamaat, Zaki Firdaus Syahid, explained that the Jalsa Salana is a routine event that continues to be maintained as a means of strengthening internal ties within the congregation. "This Jalsa Salana is an annual gathering opportunity. Those attending are from here, of course, from neighboring areas," said Zaki on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
However, this year's Jalsa series was directly impacted by the disaster situation in Sumatra. With flash floods and landslides occurring since late November, organizers have added a new focus on prayers and solidarity for the victims. "We are deeply saddened, and coincidentally, several of our members were also affected and had to evacuate," he said. Zaki said the committee is encouraging congregants to make donations to the millions of Sumatrans directly affected by the disaster. This is in addition to the humanitarian teams already on the ground. "Since the second day of the disaster, the Humanity First team from Ahmadiyah has been deployed to the field to provide direct assistance to residents," he concluded. rmol news logo article EDITOR: AHMAD KIFLAN WAKIK
