JAKARTA – Vice Chancellor of the International Islamic University of Indonesia (UIII)Syafiq Hasyimw appreciates the national activities held by the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (JMAI).
JMAI held a national seminar with the title 100 Years of Ahmadiyah: Caring for the Nation, Strengthening, Building Indonesia’s Future. According to Syafiq, the role Ahmadiyya As part of the Indonesian nation, it is very important to strengthen the sense of nationalism, nationality, and ownership of the country.
He stated that in the coming years, Indonesia will face various global challenges, ranging from the food crisis, environmental damage, to international geopolitical dynamics. He believes that support from religious groups such as the Ahmadiyah is essential to ensure that the nation remains strong and is not easily swayed by external influences.
“If Indonesia remains fragile from within, it could easily be influenced by geopolitical circumstances. We never imagined, for example, that Cambodia and Thailand could come into conflict so close. That’s a warning for us,” Syafiq said on Sunday (August 24).
Furthermore, he touched on cases of intolerance that still occur in several regions, such as attacks on places of worship and obstruction of religious activities. According to him, this would not have happened if state officials had truly enforced the law in accordance with the constitution.
