I should be grateful to Allah SWT as the Head of the Doctoral Study Program (S3) in Modern Fiqh at UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh for being able to fulfill the invitation of the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation to attend the Kazan Forum 2025 from 14 to 16 May 2025 in Kazan City, Russian Federation.

The Kazan Forum is a meeting forum attended by various world delegations, especially from Islamic countries.

This forum discusses strategic issues facing the Islamic world in the fields of economics, law, culture, environment, social order of the Islamic world, improving social welfare, and others.

The Kazan Forum is an annual routine agenda of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation, supported by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

In 2025, the Kazan Forum will raise the theme “Strengthening Islamic Economy in the World” in order to strengthen cooperation between Russia and the Islamic World (Russia-Islamic World).

The selection of Kazan City as the host of the World Islamic Economic Forum is very reasonable, because Kazan City is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Russian Federation, which is predominantly Muslim. In fact, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan is a Muslim, named Rustam Minnikhanov.

The people of Kazan City come from the Tatar and Turk tribes who strongly adhere to Islamic teachings in their lives and experienced a bitter journey in practicing Islam in the Soviet Union era.

However, they have the blood of fighters and never give up in carrying out Allah’s teachings which bring goodness and mercy to the entire universe.

Islamic terms are still often used in the lives of the people of Kazan City, such as for the President of Tatarstan they refer to him as Ra-is (Ruler-Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The city of Kazan is a city of Islamic cultural heritage and has left many historical sites, even handwritten manuscripts of the Qur’an from the Umayyad Dynasty (Tabi’in), are still found in the Kazan City Museum.

The pulse of Islamic activities is very much felt in the land of Tatarstan, as evidenced by the many Islamic activities in the largest and most beautiful mosque in this city, namely the Kul Syarif Mosque which is located in the middle of the Kazan City Kremlin.

The economic activities of the people of Tatarstan are largely based on the agricultural and plantation sectors which produce various fresh fruits which are not only consumed by the residents of Kazan City, but also exported to neighboring countries of Russia.

The land of Tatarstan is very fertile, because this country has two of the most beautiful rivers that divide the city of Kazan, namely the Volka River and the Kazanska River.
