TRIBUNJABAR.ID – Deputy Chairman of the West Java DPRD, Acep Jamaludin, also spoke out regarding the ban from the Kuningan Regency Government (Pemkab) which prohibits the Jalsah Salanah or annual meeting held by the Ahmadiyah congregation in Kuningan on December 6-8, 2024.
Acep Jamaludin regrets the decision of the Kuningan Regional Government , according to him, Jalsah Salanah is a religious expression that should be protected by the state.
“The Ahmadiyah congregation has the same rights as other citizens in carrying out worship as regulated in the 1945 Constitution,” said Acep Jamaludin in his release, Sunday, December 15, 2024.
The mandate of the state constitution as stated in the 1945 Constitution, Article 28 E Paragraph 1 and Article 29 Paragraph 2, guarantees a person’s freedom to embrace their religion and beliefs.
Acep emphasized that the incident experienced by the Ahmadiyah Congregation must not be repeated in the future.
“The government, in this case the Kuningan Regency Government, should protect every citizen, including minorities who have been marginalized such as Ahmadiyah . For whatever reason, such a ban is not permitted, therefore an incident like this must not happen again in West Java,” he said.
In addition, Acep also said that every religious expression should receive protection, especially from the state, from all forms of threats or discrimination from any party.
“The government must not be influenced by pressure from any party in upholding tolerance and protecting all the nation’s children,” he said.
