MUI calls for Ahmadiyya leaders to be tried

Jakarta, 16/4 (Pinmas) – The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has called on Ahmadiyya leaders to be brought to justice immediately over the decision of the Bakorpakem Kecorn to declare Ahmadiyya teachings deviant. The call was reflected in the statement of the attitude of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) delivered by the Secretary of MUI, Amrullah Ahmad in his press conference at the MUI Office, Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, Wednesday (16/4/2008).

As for his converted followers, he continued to be nurtured and directed and given the opportunity to manage Ahmadiyya assets. Amrullah, who was accompanied by MUI Head of Fatwa Ma’ruf Amin and MUI Head of Study and Development Chuzaimah T Yanggo, said Ahmadiyah did not take advantage of the opportunity given by the government to return to the right path. “In fact, MUI from the beginning has invited Ahmadiyya followers to repent and return to the teachings of Islam in accordance with the Qur’an and hadith, and abandon the teachings of the false prophet Mirza Ghulam Ahmad,” he explained.

MUI also considered that Ahmadiyah had disobeyed and did not want to use the time given by the government to change its teachings. “It means that they have manifestly deliberately systemically and organized blasphemy and blasphemy of Islam through their religion,” he said. The blasphemy is to acknowledge the existence of a prophet after the prophet Muhammad, to acknowledge the revelation after the Qur’an, to disbelieve those who do not believe in the prophethood of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and other religious teachings in the name of Islam. Therefore, he continued, MUI asked the Indonesian government to dissolve Ahmadiyah and ban teachings throughout the territory of Indonesia in accordance with the Law. “We also call on people to remain calm and carry out destructive, counterproductive and anarchic acts,” he said.
