Saudi Arabia is to abolish flogging as a form of punishment, according to a legal document seen by media outlets.

The directive from the Gulf kingdom’s Supreme Court says flogging will be replaced by imprisonment or fines.

It says this is an extension of human rights reforms brought by King Salman and his son, the country’s de facto ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Saudi Arabia has been criticised over the jailing of dissidents, and the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Campaigners say Saudi Arabia has one of the worst records for human rights in the world, with freedom of expression severely curtailed and critics of the government subject to what they say is arbitrary arrest.

‘Bad image’

The last time that flogging in Saudi Arabia hit the headlines was in 2015 when blogger Raif Badawi was subjected to the punishment in public, reportedly after being convicted of cybercrime and insulting Islam.

He had been due to receive 1,000 lashes in weekly beatings but global outrage and reports that he nearly died put a stop to that part of his sentence.

  1. Zia—and —Rafiq— Did you see that?

That is what I say many times here, you always REJECT my belief that We have to reform the Old Islamic teaching ( of course not all) that cannot fit to thsi era, modern era—

Now Saudi Scholars allow women NOT to wear HIJAB , women can drive car as men, women can shake hands with men— not need segregation any more—etc

Hopefully Ahmadiyyah will follow Saudi to reform old Islamic teaching. Otherwise Ahmadiyyah will leave behind!

  2. Well, thank you Zia, excellent info.

    My conclusion is:

Injil or Gospel was written around 20-50 years after Jesus died.

Al Quran and Injil was written around 200-250 years after Prophet Muhammad died.

Both Injil and Al Quran, God said that His words will be protected— People have to believe in it. That is why we call “BELIEVER”-/ those who dose not believe in God we call atheist or unbeliever.

    MUSLIM’S FAITH.
Those who worship and face toward Black Stone Hajar Asward, Holy Stone from Heaven and Kaaba- God’s house their SINS will be erased then he can enter Heaven

    CHRISTIAN’S FAITH.
Those who believe in Jesus is God, their SINS will be erased and he can enter Heaven.

Both faiths are very influencer in our world to day
So we are free to choose which one you believe in.
Use your mind and knowledge you will be fine.
But if you out trust on your scholars you may be deceived and go to Hell.

  3. What if we believe that Moses is God, how would that help our thought process and enlightenment and eventual salvation?

    Somi mere word games.

The holy Quran was written within two years of the prophet passing away.

    • Can you give us proof or just your opinion Zia
Zia ! Do not be like Rafiq— he just play word game with me
