Chinese citizens have been instructed to “inherit the red gene” by following new morality guidelines that focus heavily on nationalism and people’s duty in “bearing the great responsibility of national rejuvenation,” according to a report.
The guidelines — officially called the “Outline for Implementing the Moral Construction of Citizens in the New Era” — were released Sunday by the country’s State Council, according to CNN.
Following rules that use President Xi Jinping’s political thought as a guiding principle, citizens are urged to be polite, perform charity work, promote “positive content” online and embrace socialist values to “carry forward the national spirit.”
