As Head of the Muslim World League, I See Islamic Leaders Calling for Tolerance More Than Ever | Opinion

As tensions mount in the Middle East, it might be easy from the West to imagine the Islamic world locked in an internecine political struggle, with each side wielding threats of open conflict and the violent rhetoric of exclusion.

Beyond the testy politics, however, Islamic religious leaders are speaking in greater unison than ever before. The message we are advancing is one of moderate Islam, and the promotion of peace, tolerance and love.

In May, I gathered with more than 1,200 Muslim leaders, scholars, academics and religious teachers in Mecca for the Muslim World League’s Conference on Moderation. We represented more than 139 countries and 27 different Islamic sects. Our four days of discussions focused on combating the global rise in hate speech and political intolerance plaguing so many of our communities.

We did not obsess over Shiite vs. Sunni or the questions of theological interpretation that have proved so divisive over time. Certainly, no one in our congregation recited “Death to America,” “A curse on the Jews” or any of the other political slogans so often deployed by the extremists, and so regularly replayed in television hits, newspaper quotes and rapid-fire retweets.

Instead, our mission centered on advancing harmony among Muslims, and coexistence between Muslims and everyone else. After the horrifying terrorist attacks on the Islamic community in Christchurch, New Zealand, and similar atrocities against synagogues in the United States and churches in Sri Lanka, we know we have a global problem.

Our solution is the Charter of Mecca, a document of groundbreaking frankness that received the endorsement of the entirety of the Islamic scholars who participated. It received political backing as well through its first signatory, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.

The charter’s 30 points send a clear message not just to the Muslim world but to the entire global community and worshippers of all faiths: We must put aside our differences and embrace our religious and cultural diversity. For isolated and independent of one another, we will never overpower the voices of hate.

We have a great challenge before us. Everywhere we look, we see old divides and outdated superstitions calcifying. We see the forces of intolerance and fanaticism finding new followers, spurred by social media and a culture that magnifies our disagreements and ignores our commonalities.

How do we win this battle? From the Muslim world, it starts with commitments the likes of which we have never formally adopted or connected to tolerance.

Our charter demands that we safeguard natural resources and manage industrial development; support climate treaties, fight hunger and poverty; eliminate disease and discrimination, and preserve the human rights of all people, including women and minorities. It includes a special obligation to empower women through social equality and economic opportunity, and to reject any effort that is disrespectful or marginalizing toward women.

We will take each of these commitments home with us, and exhort our community members to adhere to them. We must.
It is impossible not to feel that we have reached an inflection point in history. We can climb the roughhewn ladder toward greater unity and cooperation, or slide down the convenient chute of conflict and divisiveness.

For me, the choice is obvious. It is the only viable choice.

As the Charter of Mecca instructs us, we must build cultural and religious ties among each other, deepen understanding between different communities, construct civilized partnerships, stand arm-in-arm against hatred and declare now and forevermore that every culture is a reflection of God’s will, with an inviolable right to exist. We must view every conflict in the world as an opportunity for dialogue.

Islam can play a leading role. The charter provides a blueprint for how the Muslim world should interact with other faith traditions, including precise guidance on how we ought to welcome differences and affirm our common ethical, social and environmental values. It demands that we go beyond mere theory and empty slogans by taking concrete actions to reconcile, not radicalize, our future generations.

Conscience Foundation President and Founder Rabbi Arthur Schneier and Muslim World League Secretary General Mohammad Al-Issa speak during an event before signing an agreement calling for the “protection of religious sites across the world” on April 29 in the Park East Synagogue in New York City.

  1. Nice article, but what is the REALITY of the outcome? You and/or Zia deleted some very important comments I made this morning regarding husbands AUTHORITY to beat their wives. So what I find is that either you are denying that it exists in the Koran, when it clearly does, or you want to HIDE it from people, so that they don’t see it, because you don’t want to tarnish the name of Mohamed for beating his own wife. You have to remember, I have read your Koran.

Your Koran has a total and complete disdain for Christians and Jews. The only way you can solve that problem is to denounce your Koran that has derogatory things about Christians and Jews. But that isn’t gonna happen, not in this life or the next, is it? And the reason? You would have to admit that Mohamed was wrong, and you can’t do that.

So, in the end, the reality of an outcome of the article…it was a nice fleeting thought, but…you know it ain’t gonna happen, because there will be contention with the other flavors of Islam that really do want Death to Christians and Jews. And I know that you know that.

And I say that respectfully, too.

What I want to know is, why does Mohamed care WHAT WE CHRISTIANS or Jews believe? Why does he care?

Why does Mohamed want to destroy our lives? I have read the Koran, so you can’t tell me that he doesn’t want us destroyed.

But, it was the thought that counts.

    • strange how you got such confused ideas after reading the Qur’an. You need some guidance. Come to our Mosque and we will explain it to you. There are many ‘anti-Muslims’ who read the Qur’an too. At first they wanted to find something negative, in the end they found only positive things and converted to Islam.

    • Quran never says beat your wife, it states to live with them honorably.

Ironically its the polytheistic trinitarian christianity which has The concept of God being reduced to human image and was referred as a male, father god in many sects of christianity.

The Old Testament goes further and blames Eve for tempting Adam to eat from the forbidden apple. St. Paul, the real founder of Christianity pontificates this mindset clearly:

“A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing–if they continue faith, love and holiness with propriety.” (1 Timothy 2:11-15).

The Bible teaches that a husband should have authority over his wife…

      Colossians 3:18

Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

      1 Peter 3:1

Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives,

However, what kind of submission are we talking about here?…

      1 Peter 3:5-6

5 For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

So aren’t the Christian women of today also supposed to follow this example and call their husbands their master?

      • Look up the word submit in my book. We are to submit to one another. It’s not the same point that you are trying to make. The Koran does indeed say that a husband can beat his wife. Deny out all ya want. We all know it’s there.

      • Your use of the word submit is portraying a punishment for the wife getting out of line. And one of those punishments is withholding sex. Now, I’m a guy. experience has shown me that men can’t live without sex. Women could care less. However, our use of the word, submit has nothing to do with punishment. And no one can forbid sex unless mutually agreed. AGAIN, we all are to submit to one another. This isn’t restricted for wives to husband’s.

      • Strange Ed Chapman. Above he quotes about submitting from the bible and when the Qur’an uses the same words he is shocked. May Allah guide you.

      • We don’t PUNISH our wives. We can punish children, but not our spouse.

        Ephesians 5:21-29
21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

        25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

The word “CHURCH” here is the whole assembly of Christians, and all of us, male or female, is considered the BRIDE of Christ. Spiritually speaking, WE ARE ALL WOMEN here, as Christ is the GROOM.

Men are to love their wives AS THEIR OWN BODIES.

As far as Eve in concerned regarding your comment of our verse regarding Eve, it’s really an admonishment on Adam for being gullible than it is for Eve, since Adam is SUPPOSED TO BE the smart one, showing how stupid he was to listen to her, FULLY KNOWING that God told him not to eat that, what did you call it? Apple?

        Colossians 3:18-21
18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

        1 Peter 5:5
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Children are to respect their elders, and EVERYONE is to SUBJECT to ONE ANOTHER.

        Ed Chapman

      • sounds very much like the Islamic teaching actually. Of course, why not, our religions come from the same Creator of All things.

      • I can guarantee that if YOU PUNISH your wife by withholding sex, you are NOT punishing her, but you are punishing YOU. She doesn’t care whether she has sex or not. Women don’t roll the same way that we guys do.

But that didn’t matter to Mohamed, as PLURAL wives was the norm of the day. He could just go to wife number 2.

In my Christian world, we don’t have that luxury. We have enough trouble with one wife. Why would we even want more than one?

        Ed Chapman

    • Islam affirms that marriage is based upon affection and mercy between spouses—“And amongst God’s signs is that He created for you spouses from amongst you and placed between you love and mercy.” (Qur’an 30:21).

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ made a clear pronouncement against domestic violence stating, “Do not strike the female servants of God”[Sunan Abi Dawud 2146]

and “Do not hit them and do not revile them.”[Sunan Abi Dawud 2144]

The Prophet ﷺ encouraged all Muslims to follow his example and by the testimony of his wife, Aisha, he was someone who “never once hit a servant, a woman, nor struck anything with his hand.”[Sunan Ibn Majah, 2060]

In Qur’an (4:34) where men are instructed to deal with a wife’s persistent misconduct by first persuading and advising them, followed by deserting the marital bed(abstaining from sex), before being given permission to take the last resort of darb.

Darb—a word given its usage in other places in the Qur’an (e.g., 43:5), can mean ‘to leave’ or seperate.

Ibn Abbas (cousin of the holy Prophet) said about verse 4:34, “A man does not strike his wife, rather he may only show his anger.”[Abu Ishaq Al-Jahdami (d.282H). Ahkam al-Qur’an]

the Prophet’s wife praised his example of being someone who never hit, and the Qur’an seeks for marriages to be filled with love and mercy.

      • I have evidence that contradicts those very statements. It is well known that Mohammed beat up his own wife, and that present day Muslims so the same to their wives. You can’t hide it. It’s already out in the open. I’ve also seen evidence of honor killings. It’s a very sad shame that you turn a blind eye to the domestic violence that actually takes place in your own religion.

      • wrong! Mohammad (peace and blessings be on him) never beat any of his wives !!! ‘honor killings’ ‘domestic violence’, grow up Ed. ISLAM prohibits all that! The prophet said ‘the best among you is the one who treats his wife best, and among us all I am the one who treats his wife best’. Unfortunately domestic abuse is everywhere, irrespective of religion. As you know surely.

      • By the way, we also have no religious clothing custom either, but some of my tribe in Christianity wears collar devices and such. Why? I have no idea. Probably to look important. It’s a show, and I’m not impressed with that.

  2. Rafiq,

Speaking of sex, and Abraham’s SISTER…the age old question of:

Where did Cain get his wife?

He, too, slept with his sister, and married her.

Adam and Eve had daughters, too. They just aren’t mentioned in the Bible. Seth, Abel’s replacement brother, is the 7th child, not the 3rd.

But your belief system tells you that mankind existed prior to Adam and Eve (at least, that is what I read), that that kinda puts a different twist on what the NORMAL three Abrahamic faiths believe.

Also, what about that story where 2 girls couldn’t find husbands to give them children, so they got their dad drunk and slept with him. One one night, the other, the next night.

Do you remember reading that from our book?

NO SIN could ever be imputed to them, because they had NO KNOWLEDGE of it even being a sin to begin with.

I bet that you will also deny that he was the dad, or that they were not the daughters, or that the girls aren’t sisters, concluding, NO INCEST HERE!?

Why do you have a hard time admitting that Abraham and Sarah are brother and sister, as well as husband and wife, in light of Cain and his sister/wife?

    Ed Chapman

    • right you are. It is impossible for a rightly guided Prophet (peace be on them all) to commit such sins. Your story writers just wanted to make the stories more interesting, like the Hollywood guys these days. (One dose of violence, one dose of sex).

      • Well, I’m glad to see your humor. I was getting a bit worried there for a moment. Rafiq, to me, it sounds like your flavor of Islam is indeed a peaceful one. But I notice that you can’t stand Donald Trump. So, politically we are on the opposite sides of the political spectrum, as I love Trump, and voted for him, and will vote for him again. We are also on the opposite sides of the religious debates regarding our so-called like religions. The Torah that we use is from Judaism, not Islam. There is HUGE differences between the story line between our versions, such as with Ishmael, and Isaac, for the main example, and Noah, and a whole slew of others. The prophecies of Jesus has to match the Hebrew scriptures, and there is no way that it can with your use of the Islamic view of the Torah. I can’t figure out why Islam is against the PHYSICAL LAND of Israel, which you call Palestine. It’s a SMALL piece of real estate. SMALL. Some have said that it is so small that it’s no bigger than the size of the State of Delaware. All this violence over that? Why? Saudi Arabia is SO HUGE it could probably fit the entire population of the whole world in it and still have enough room for a huge Theme Park and Water slide park for the kids to enjoy themselves in. Wouldn’t the Palestinians rather have a HUGE room instead of something so small? Anyway, even tho you delete my TRUTHFUL comments, it’s good to talk to you. I mean no ill will against you at all. You are nice. I can’t in good conscience become a Muslim, as there is just too much evidence in the Hebrew scriptures as told by the Greek writings about Jesus. I would never submit to your Allah, as I submit to the God of FREEDOM, Jehovah, Yahweh, Jesus, the great I AM. I am more than convinced that Jesus is God. I’m sorry that you can’t see that, and refuse to. Spirit/Soul/Body is your monkey, rock, and apple. Spirit/Soul/Body is ONE PERSON.

      • Not exactly that I can’t stand Trump. Once in a while he even does something right. I am just glad I am not American. The last choice you had between Trump and (k)Hillary was lousy. – Interesting how you think the Palestinian, with their beautiful country bordering the Mediterranean sea, should gladly move to the deserts of Saudi Arabia. Put yourself in their place, would you like to?

      • Well, if the climate change is real, soon we will have ocean front property in Arizona. I live at the waters edge near Seattle on the Puget Sound. Believe me when I say that where I live is more beautiful than the Mediterranean. And I’ve got mount Raineer in the background for snow skiing. I’d rather be an American than anything else. I’ve literally been around the world. There is no place like home.

      • Rafiq,

You are missing my point. The sins were indeed committed. You deny that they were committed. My point is that because they had no KNOWLEDGE of it, that the sin is NOT COUNTED or IMPUTED. The name of the tree in the garden had the word KNOWLEDGE in it. Without knowledge, the sin can’t be counted. NO ONE is held to account for a law that they have no KNOWLEDGE of. But it’s a sin, nonetheless. This is why Abraham is INNOCENT, no different than a CHILD when they sin, all because they are IGNORANT. You put a twist on it by saying that they DIDN’T commit such an act, when if fact they did indeed commit such an act.

      • My opinion, however, is based on the writings, not based on my imagination. You rightly say that children are innocent. But why? Abraham was never introduced to the law of Moses. And there is a reason. That reason is the same reason that the law of Moses is abrogated in Christianity.

      • Do you know how children, when being carried on your shoulder, will point, and ask, what’s that? All day long, point, what’s that? I love to ask the questions of what, why, where, and how, then research the answers. Myself. I was in the US Navy. It’s ok to question authority.

    • Bible states women were created to serve men and is glory of men not Lord,

” If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head. A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.” [1 Corinthians 11:6-7]

The Bible instructs husbands to cut their hands if they think thier wife defend him in a wrong way.

“And in case men struggle together (in a fight) with one another, and the wife of the one has come near to deliver her husband out of the striking one (to save her husband), and she has thrust out her hand and grabbed hold of his private (the other man’s groin), she must then get both her hands cut off, and the eyes of the men must feel no sorrow.” [Deuteronomy 25:11-12]

Birth of a girl compared to a boy in the bible:

“If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven daybut if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks”
      Leviticus 12:2-5

Divorced women cannot marry according to the bible:

Who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.”
      Matthew 5:32

To conclude; the Quran gives more rights to women compared to the bible.

      • You need to finish reading the whole context of the passages. Especially the head covering one. We have no head covering custom in Christianity. And the context was in regard to praying, not everyday life. And genesis talks about the woman being a help mate and companion, and that it is not good for man to be alone. It’s not about male testosterone dominance over women. It’s equal. In my country, we have a joke that women let their husband’s think they are the boss.

Look at those who are not religious at all. NATURE shows that man is already leading the woman, so we don’t need religious dogma to instruct us on this regard. But, Ephesus had a female goddess named Dianna. Things had to be set straight. But you people want to dominate as if you think you are the boss, when a marriage is equal.

Finally, we Christians are not under the law of Moses… And writes what? You are not supposed to be either. Jews are the only ones for that instruction regarding punishments. They don’t have a temple right now, so those instructions are kinda on hold for a while.

We Christians are under the law of Christ, and his only commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself. Treat others as you want to be treated. Love covers a multitude of sins.

        Ed Chapman

      • p4,

Now that I am home from work, and at my laptop, I can actually provide bible evidence to refute what you said from my own book.

In the first part of what you said, that women were created to SERVE men. I have NEVER in my life read anything in the bible that states that women are to SERVE men.

Dude, really? SERVE? If I want to get SERVED, I will go to a RESTAURANT, where the SERVER is a WAITRESS. But she gets PAID to serve.

I think you guys use the word RULE as meaning to DOMINATE, LIKE A SLAVE.

We had a saying in the US Navy…Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

We all know that in a marriage that men LEAD, and the woman follows. THAT IS IN THE NATURE OF MANKIND ALREADY. Nature.

        Genesis 2:18
18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Adam was LONELY without a woman. Woman is to HELP.

Man, get out of town with that SERVE stuff. That is insane.

Next, your reference of our 1 Corinthians 7 is NOT COMPLETE. You leave out a lot of things…

First, I will quote the whole TOPIC in context:

1 Corinthians 11 King James Version (KJV)

11 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.

9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.

12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

        1. We don’t have such a custom in Christianity
        2. A woman’s HAIR is her covering by NATURE.
        3. Head covering is in regard to PRAYING OR PROPHESYING, not everyday life.

        Ed Chapman

      • In my previous, I had accidentally said:
“Next, your reference of our 1 Corinthians 7 is NOT COMPLETE. ”

Correct that to “1 Corinthians 11”.

        Sorry for the mistake.

      • p4,

        Next…you had said:
“Divorced women cannot marry according to the bible:

Who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.”
        Matthew 5:32”

        This is NOT TRUE.

I wrote a blog article about that. If you want, you can read it here:

You will find the RULES in Deuteronomy 24:1-4, which CLEARLY shows that divorce and remarriage is indeed allowed.

The Catholics screw everything up, including this topic. The Catholics are the ones who came up with a concept of not remarrying, NOT THE BIBLE.

To summarize my blog post, the Catholics have MISCONSTRUED the words, “PUT AWAY” to “DIVORCE”.

        The Catholics are STUPID.

Let me show you Matthew 5:32 from MY BIBLE

Matthew 5:32 King James Version (KJV)

32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Do you see the word DIVORCE in that? I don’t.

When you do a complete study of this, you will see that you HAVE TO DIVORCE before you remarry, because if you don’t divorce first, THEN you are committing adultery, all because you didn’t sever the previous marriage by a divorce. This is what we call BIGAMY.

Remarriage is indeed allowed. The Catholics have no clue as to what they are talking about.

Read my blog post on this subject. It will expound on all of that.

        Ed Chapman

      • p4,

Last, I need to cover this one:

My goodness, have you ever had children?

        You quote:
““If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven daybut if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks”
        Leviticus 12:2-5”

That’s a NICE way of saying, DON’T HAVE SEX for there is BIOLOGICAL changes going on.

        Wow, dude, really? UNCLEAN?

A woman is UNCLEAN during her menstrual cycle, too. DON’T HAVE SEX DURING HER PERIOD.

Come on, man. Read between the lines here. This is common sense stuff. NATURE.

      • but the bible says that a woman giving birth to a girl becomes unclean twice as long as compared to giving birth to a male.

        nice try to avoid that!

      • Dude, you really amuse me with your crazy talk about women. That UNCLEAN thing is about BIOLOGY, not as a means to bad mouth females, as you do.

      • whats biological about being unclean twice as long giving birth to a female as compared to a male?

its superstitious teaching from the bible not science!

      • Hey, p4,

        Leviticus 15:16
And if any man’s seed of copulation go out from him, then he shall wash all his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even.

        Leviticus 15:17
And every garment, and every skin, whereon is the seed of copulation, shall be washed with water, and be unclean until the even.

        Leviticus 15:18
The woman also with whom man shall lie with seed of copulation, they shall both bathe themselves in water, and be unclean until the even.

        Leviticus 15:19
And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even.

        Leviticus 15:20
And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean: every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean.

        Leviticus 15:21
And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

        Ed Chapman

      • nothing scientfic about a woman being twice as long unclean, giving birth to a female as compared to giving birth to a male.

thats not science, but biblical superstition.

      • I’ve responded to this twice. Someone is deleting my comments. They only want you to listen to their narratives. They don’t believe in REASON. This is why we in America have freedom of religion, and speech in the same constitutional amendment. Free to think without any governmental interference or infringement, the right to disagree. Someone doesn’t want you to learn something other than what they want you to know. No questioning your authority. I feel sorry for you.

      • P4,

Unclean from a menstrual cycle…AND THE DISCHARGE OF SEMEN FROM A MAN.

        Leviticus 15:19-33 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)

19 “If a woman has a discharge from her monthly time of bleeding, she will be unclean for seven days. Anyone who touches her will be unclean until evening. 20 Everything she lies on during her monthly time of bleeding will be unclean. And everything she sits on during that time will be unclean. 21 Whoever touches her bed must wash their clothes and bathe in water. They will be unclean until evening. 22 Whoever touches anything she has sat on must wash their clothes and bathe in water. They will be unclean until evening. 23 It doesn’t matter if they touched the woman’s bed or if they touched something she sat on, they will be unclean until evening.

24 “If a man has sexual relations with a woman during her monthly time of bleeding, he will be unclean for seven days. Every bed he lies on will be unclean.

25 “If a woman has a discharge of blood for many days, not during her time of monthly bleeding, or if she has a discharge after that time, she will be unclean, just as during the time of her monthly bleeding. She will be unclean for as long as she has a discharge. 26 Any bed she lies on during the time of her discharge will be like her bed during the time of her monthly bleeding. Everything she sits on will be unclean, just as it is during the time she is unclean from her monthly bleeding. 27 Whoever touches these things will be unclean until evening. They must wash their own clothes and bathe in water. 28 After the woman’s discharge stops, she must wait seven days. After that she will be clean. 29 Then on the eighth day, she must bring two doves or two young pigeons to the priest at the entrance of the Meeting Tent. 30 Then the priest must offer one bird for a sin offering and the other bird for a burnt offering. In this way the priest will make her pure before the Lord.

31 “So you must warn the Israelites about being unclean. If you don’t warn the people, they might make my Holy Tent unclean. And then they would have to die!”

32 These are the rules for anyone with a discharge from the body. These rules are for men who become unclean from a flow of semen. 33 And these rules are for women who become unclean from their monthly time of bleeding. And these are the rules for anyone who becomes unclean by sleeping with another person who is unclean.

  3. Again, in my previous, I had said:
“Do you see the word DIVORCE in that? I don’t.”

Forgive me, my mind is faster than my typing. Divorce is in that verse…but….

Note: The word “divorced” in the above should be “put away”. Note the Greek word used twice in this verse is translated as PUT AWAY, NOT DIVORCE. You will see this in the following verse.

    Matthew 19:9
And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

In these references, a man married an already still married woman. She never got a divorce yet. She was only KICKED OUT of the house (Uh, that is, PUT AWAY, aka Send Away) by her husband…without the divorce.

    From the Law of Moses:

    Deuteronomy 24:1-4
1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s wife.

    3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;

4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the Lord: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

In that, I see a TWICE DIVORCED WOMAN, how about you?
