More than 500 people from over 20 states have written supportive letters to a 10-year-old Muslim girl who was recently called a terrorist and had her life threatened in notes found in her cubby at school in Framingham, an advocacy group said Thursday.
In a statement, the Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR-MA, said supporters responded to the group’s appeal for “people of conscience to send the letters to the young girl to support her and to show wider solidarity for the Muslim community.”
The child, a fifth-grade student at Hemenway Elementary School, discovered a note in her cubby on Nov. 9 calling her a terrorist, followed by a second letter days later that said “I will kill you,” according to local authorities.
