After listening to this eleven hour video, I have been reassured in my commitment that in our global village, in the 21st century, we should gather our personal piety from the Quranic teaching of compassion and justice and our public policy from the last five centuries of experience in the Western world and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. A major difficulty that the Muslims have faced is that we create one or the other version of political Islam, every so often when the opportunity presents itself to a charismatic leader. In my view we should read the Quran and Hadith as apolitical sources for personal life and spirituality.
In the above video, around 4 hours 30 minutes, listen for a period of 16 minutes, here Ghamidi stresses that the Quran is about accountability in afterlife, but there is no mention or stress on establishing state or government or the concept of Imammat as in Shiite sects.
