Tunisian president proposes inheritance equality for women, with exceptions

TUNIS (Reuters) – Tunisia’s president on Monday proposed giving women equal inheritance rights despite protests from thousands of people objecting to any challenge to Islamic law.
The North African Muslim country, which toppled autocrat Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in 2011, grants women more rights than other countries in the region, and since last year has allowed Muslim women to marry non-Muslim men.
But in a show how divided society remains, thousands demonstrated on Saturday in front of parliament against any changes to inheritance rules.

Let’s assume I could inherit something. I get double of my sister. My sister can keep the money 100% for herself. Good for her. I have to divide mine with two wives and five children. Counting me that is eight persons. My 100 $ for her 50 turns out to be 100 divided by 8. Well, the ladies with their 50% inheritance are by far better off! Is that so difficult to understand. OK, let us all inherit the same, but then the ladies have to share in the burden of looking after everyone!
Rafiq— in modren society, man and femaly are equal in any field— education, duty in house, goverment, salary, inheritance, etc.
Except those people who live in jungle or desert of Saudi.
Where girls di not need to get a good education, the duty of wife is only to take care children and cook etc
