Ex President of France Nicolas Sarkozy with Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai
A call to omit verses from the Quran was denounced by Al-Azhar, Egypt’s oldest university and the most renowned Islamic Studies University in the world (due to its link to Al-Azhar mosque).
The request was made by several prominent French citizens, including ex. French President, Nicolas Sarkozy (who banned hijabs in public schools and the niqab, or burka, anywhere in public). Also with him was previous French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, former director of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, Philippe Val, and famous French singer, Charles Aznavour, reported Al Arabiya.
In an open letter the popular French daily newspaper, Le Parisien, they, along with others, urged that the country remove verses from the Quran that call for the “murder and punishment of Jews, Christians and disbelievers.”
First of all, they’ve got it all wrong. And that’s what Al-Azhar University’s deputy was quick to point out in a sermon he gave yesterday.
The Quran, just like any holy scripture, does not call for the killing of anybody. What it does say, is that Muslims should fight back hostile people. In fact, there is no verse in the Quran that states that Muslims should kill– as it is a crime in Islam, the deputy said.
In his sermon, he spoke about how people misinterpret the Quran. He also said that the verse Sarkozy and others sited was, in fact, referring to people defending themselves in case they were attacked only.
According to Egypt Independent, Dar Al Iftaa (an Egyptian educational institute and center for Islamic legal research as well as a government body that represents Islam) also warned against people misinterpreting Islam in such cases. They said that it just serves to cause antagonism and leads to Islamophobia – all of which creates a bigger divide and conflict between people of different faiths in France.

Yes, instead of asking to remove verses, be humble and ask for the correct interpretation of the verses. Try out the inter-active programs at http://www.mta.tv !

Below is the confirmation of the news and we have tackled the issues in the suggested reading at the bottom of the post above
A group of 300 French politicians and artists demanded prominent Muslim leaders denounce Islamic anti-Semitism and declare anti-Christian and anti-Jewish verses in the Quran outdated.
Former President Nicolas Sarkozy, actor Gerard Depardieu and singer Charles Aznavour numbered among the group, which issued a manifesto in Le Parisien newspaper on Sunday, according to The Associated Press. The manifesto demanded the denunciation from Muslim leaders so “no believer can refer to a holy text to commit a crime” and urged them to fight against the anti-Semitism of radical Islam “before it’s too late,” according to AP.
The group included three former French presidents, politicians from France’s left and right wing parties, as well as Jewish, Catholic and Muslim leaders. French leaders issued the manifesto in response to France’s upsurge of anti-Semitism and cited in the manifesto 11 French Jews who were murdered for their faith. The most recent victim was 85-year-old Mireille Knoll, a Holocaust survivor, whose Muslim neighbor and another man stabbed her to death before setting her apartment on fire. The manifesto’s authors blame the anti-Semitism surge on the rise of radical Islam in France and the media’s silence on the matter.

Reblogged this on Progressive Islam. and commented:
LET US SUPPORT A REFORMATION FOR THE SAKE OF PEACE.
It is a good step for reformation of the teaching of Islam.
If Islamic clerics ( Al Azhar or Saudi Authority ) do not dare to reform Islamic teaching, other party ( non Islamic countries) will force to change or remove all violent Hadith and Verses in Al Quran for sake of security of the world.
I agree 100 percent that the root of conflict and killing innocent people are Hadith and Al Quran. No doubt about it.
My best suggestion is:
1. All violent hadith have to be removed from the book of Hadith, then the books of Hadith should be rewrite and reprinted with new version that fit on 21th century.
2. All violent verses in Al Quran have to be marked “ Invalid). So Al Quran should be reprinted with new version in 21 century.
If the Islamic authority cannot do it, it means they ignore of killing innocent people—this killing innocent people will continue for ever.
Most the victim are ( Ahmadiyyah, sufi, Shiah, Christian and others)
So Ahmadiyyah, Shiah and Christian come togather to demand the Islamic authority to REFORM the Islamic Books of Hadith and Al Quran.
May Allah give them the strength to reform the books of Al Quran and Hadith.Amen
Was Salam.. with love ❤️
My view: ABSOLUTELY NO. No human can be permitted to start fiddling around with the text of the Qur’an, which Allah has revealed for all times. To defend yourself when attacked is a human right. If you do not like it than do not attack. But, yes, Muslims need to be taught which verses refer to the defensive wars. The verses dealing with war in the Quran are much more ‘humane’ than in any other laws, religious or otherwise, when correctly interpreted. Again: my view: no single word of the Quran can be changed, no single word of the Quran needs to be changed. Killings, which are not in defense of your life and property, are against the laws (Quranic and otherwise). Present day murders are against the Quran. If someone thinks they will stop by removing verses they are dreaming. Murders are murders and fights for power are fights for power. This has nothing to do with any verses of the Quran. It seems to be human nature, or in-human nature rather.
As it is clear that all these verses are speaking about defending yourself when attacked do these French, who are attacking Muslim countries, want to ensure that no-one fights back? To defend yourself against attack is a human right.
One more things should be added to this —A group of 300 French politicians and artists demanded prominent Muslim leaders denounce Islamic anti-Semitism and declare anti-Christian and anti-Jewish verses in the Quran outdated.—-
The laws of Blasphemy, Apostate, Herecy, Gay lesbian and infidel should be removed from the book of Hadith.
Blasphemy law are targeted Ahmadiyyah, and Christian or those who insult Islam and Prophet.
All love ❤️
To Ahmadiyya Muslim.
Allah is the Most Knowing and the Most Merciful.
My heart is telling me that this is a good Moment for Ahmadiyyah to take a lead and support this movemrnt from France to reform the Islamic teaching that has caused million people suffered and died every day in the name of Islam while shouting Allahu Akbar—God is Greatest.
If Ahmadiyyah dare to lead this movement, I believe there is no more persecuting Ahmadiyyaa in Islamic countries as well Christian.
This is my suggestion to Ahmadiyya that I love and care.
All love ❤️
Somi, Quran is a book of God and God protects it. In the past I’d you research the history you will find that anyone who tried to change it or erase it, met an unfortunate natural end. So In the Quran it self Allah says, that he will protect it. There are no violent verses in Quran besides the ones that are part of the stories of past.
For better understanding and greater comprehension of the Quran please visit alislam.org
Prophet Muhamnad urged Muslim to tell the truth.
As a Muslim who love and believe that Islam is a great and peaceful religion, after 200 years prophet Muhammad died, the pure Islamic teaching has been damaging by enemy of Islam since then there was no peace anymore— Muslim killed another Muslim as usual event. Most Khalifah were killed by Muslim’s hand. This killing brother Muslim still continue till to day.
Most the victims are Muslim Shiah, Ahmadiyya, Sufi, Christian and those who do not support the extremust ideology.
The book of Hadith is not the word of God. Do you thing the book of Hadith is the word of God, you do not right.
So the book of Hadith can be rewritted and remove all violent Hadith.
The violent verses in Al Quran
1. I agree all prominent clerics denounce all violent verses and mark with —INVALID—so every one know it. ( do not need to remove them from Al Quran)
As we see to day clearly that the extremist Muslim who hate Christian, Shiah, ahmadiyyah and others misuse some violent verses (the defending verses) for their interest.
If prominent clerics do not dare to REFORM Islamic teaching , killing Ahmadiyya, Shiah, Sufi and Christian will continue.
So if Ahmadiyya love and care your members not to be killed—Ahmadiyyah has to support this idea.
There is no other alternative solution.
All our love ❤️
Again Somi is telling us the same old story. And again Somi is ignoring the PROOF that the so-called Islamic militants actually do NOT quote any Islamic verses, neither from the Qur’an nor from the Hadith. See the article from the BBC on the extremist who claims more than 100 murders. He ‘worked’ with various so-called Islamic militias, from the ‘Islamic’ State to Al Qaeeda and others. Not in a single sentence did he quote the Qur’an and any Hadith that ‘justified’ his murders. Consequently, yes, we are all the time teaching the correct interpretation of Islam, the correct interpretation of the Qur’an and the Hadith. And feel that there is no need to ‘revise’ the Qur’an. This is an impossible task. Even Somi, the Progressive Muslim, could not be trusted to decide which verses to erase and which ones to leave be.
Rafiq—If Muslim do not want to remove some verses from Al Quran, we can do different way —mark on verses that verses command to kill Christian, Jews, unbeliever, hypocrite—like Q. 9:5, Q.9:29 etc
It is very simple if we want to prevent the next genaration to kill Jews, Christian, Unbeliever, hypocrite ect etc
This is the best solution to masive killing in the nane of Islam.
All love ❤️

THE EXTREMIST MUSLIM ABUSE ISLAM!
The extremist Muslim who hate unbeliever ( Jews, Christian) do not believe in the last prophet Muhammad pbuh misuse / abuse the defencive war’s VERSES for their interest. Very dangerous if Islamic authority do not denaounce these verses to public.
Otherwise the extremist Muslim and the Next genaration of Muslim still misuse or abuse such kind of Verses easily.
My thought it is wise to mark on that verses —INVALID—

as proved to you. Murderers do not need verses of the Quran to murder.
We need to understand the verses in the proper context and then they become pearls and no need to denounce.
Have you stopped beating your wife, answer yes or no?
” just like any holy scripture, does not call for the killing of anybody.”
I am sorry to say that is just not right. Certainly not in the case of what Christians call the Old Testament.
Psalm 137: “Happy the one who takes your little ones, and dashes them against the rock.”
Someone in Canterbury Cathedral (the Dean perhaps?) decided that Verse 9 was going a little far and that Jihad against the Daughters of Babylon and their kids just wasn’t on these days.
Pity someone couldn’t have communicated the Dean’s sentiments to Bush and Blair.
They could have explained perhaps that the “axis of evil” consisting of Iran, North Korea, and Iraq should not have included, to be fair, the countless thousands of innocent men, women and children killed in two gulf wars and the disastrous aftermath.
One of the glories of England is its Cathedrals. I was sitting in the choir stalls at evensong listening to the choir singing Psalm 137 and following along in the prayer book. Somewhat to my surprise I noticed a verse had been left out and when I glanced at Verse 9, I realised the omission was justified!
The dear old church of England is a decent place on the whole (although I gather life in the Cathedral close can be as bitchy as anywhere). It isn’t blood and guts and Jihad. It is not about thrusting the violent and mad ramblings of an ancient desert tribe down the throats of the infidel.
Although the endless god stuff can get tedious (we are all so sinful) and mealy mouthed, they are a well meaning bunch mostly (leaving aside the ocasional Obadiah Slope).
That’s the thing about the religion of my childhood. They don’t mind me being an apostate, they are not too concerned that I find their belief in a benign deity (or indeed any deity) faintly absurd.
They welcome me in with open arms, hoping perhaps that I will receive a Damascene conversion while dozing gently and drifting off to the notes of Tallis, Byrd or Purcell.
That’s what I like about the shabby old clerics and their musty churches and prayer books. They recognise that for some of us it is beauty and meditation which might lead us to a better life (even if, as an atheist, I can not hope for the kingdom of their god).
Thank god (well – that’s a turn of phrase) for the decency, mediocrity and kindness of their ways.
Psalm 137
From the Psalter of the Book of Common Prayer
1 By the waters of Babylon we sat down and wept,
when we remembered Zion.
2 As for our lyres, we hung them up
on the willows that grow in that land.
3 For there our captors asked for a song,
our tormentors called for mirth:
‘Sing us one of the songs of Zion.’
4 How shall we sing the Lord’s song
in a strange land?
5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
let my right hand forget its skill.
6 Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth
if I do not remember you,
if I set not Jerusalem above my highest joy.
7 Remember, O Lord, against the people of Edom
the day of Jerusalem,
how they said, ‘Down with it, down with it,
even to the ground.’
8 O daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction,
happy the one who repays you
for all you have done to us;
9 Who takes your little ones,
and dashes them against the rock.
Interesting. Thank you for your comments. We in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believe that Allah has appointed the Khalifa of this day, Hadhrat Khalifa tul Masih V, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, to help us interpret the Qur’an for the modern age. Please check out http://www.alislam.org and the many articles and books in its library. And, yes, you will find the Qur’an (Koran) there too.
