Jakarta. Vice President Jusuf Kalla is set to attend the Kabul Process meeting in the Afghan capital as a guest of honor on Wednesday (28/02), where he will share Indonesia’s experience in peacebuilding operations.

“The vice president’s visit to Kabul is to fulfill President Ashraf Ghani’s invitation to attend as a guest of honor at the Kabul Process, which will be held on Feb. 28th,” Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said in a video issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and seen by the Jakarta Globe.

The Kabul Process, which was first held in June 2017, is an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process aimed at establishing peace, security and stability in the country after decades of violence.

  1. My previous employer, the UN migration agency, The International Organization for Migration, had a project in Aceh to re-integrate ex-militants into civilian life by providing them with small projects to enable them to earn their living. I am sure the same could be done in Afghanistan. Remember: a lot of militants are joining the militants because in fact it is ‘the only job’ available at the time and place.
