Jakarta. Vice President Jusuf Kalla is set to attend the Kabul Process meeting in the Afghan capital as a guest of honor on Wednesday (28/02), where he will share Indonesia’s experience in peacebuilding operations.
“The vice president’s visit to Kabul is to fulfill President Ashraf Ghani’s invitation to attend as a guest of honor at the Kabul Process, which will be held on Feb. 28th,” Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said in a video issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and seen by the Jakarta Globe.
The Kabul Process, which was first held in June 2017, is an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process aimed at establishing peace, security and stability in the country after decades of violence.

My previous employer, the UN migration agency, The International Organization for Migration, had a project in Aceh to re-integrate ex-militants into civilian life by providing them with small projects to enable them to earn their living. I am sure the same could be done in Afghanistan. Remember: a lot of militants are joining the militants because in fact it is ‘the only job’ available at the time and place.
