Where have refugees settled in the U.S.?

Refugees are resettled throughout the United States. This interactive tool displays the top nationality of refugees resettled across each state between fiscal 2002 and 2017.

In fiscal 2002, 27,110 refugees were admitted to the U.S. Here is the top nationality of refugee arrivals in each state.

Note: Burma is also called Myanmar. Data do not include special immigrant visas and certain humanitarian parole entrants. Count refers to top nationality of resettled refugees in each state. See the report “U.S. Resettles Fewer Refugees, Even as Global Number of Displaced People Grows” for the total number of refugees admitted each year by state.
* Top nationality is a tie. Nationality shown is the most frequently appearing nationality for refugees among other states in that year.
