Religious gathering in Hartlepool is hailed a success
Religions joined together for an event aimed at increasing understanding.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community at the Nasir Mosque at Brougham Terrace, Hartlepool, hosted a Religious Founders Day.
Three guest speakers were The Right Reverend Paul Butler, the Bishop of Durham, representing Christianity, Victor Gallant from Newcastle, representing Judaism and Maulana Ayaz Khan from London, representing Islam.
The audience of 115 guests learned about the founders of the three religions who stemmed from the Prophet Abraham.
A spokesman said: “Mr Bilal Atkinson, the regional Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community began the meeting by explaining about their founder, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who claimed to be the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi, and the good work the community does to serve mankind.
