KOKOMO – An event at Bind Cafe in downtown Kokomo on Thursday will serve as the first of three events this summer aimed at increasing tolerance, acceptance and understanding in the local community.
The event – the first in a three-part discussion series titled We the People involving local leaders and organizations. All three of these initial discussion nights are to introduce each organization.
“We’re pretty much introducing ourselves, talking about our organizations, and then people in the community can ask us questions, any questions they may have.”
From 6 to 7 p.m. June 8, the second installment of We the People will be focused on different religious groups, led by representatives from Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, Temple B’nai Israel and Saint Andrew Episcopal Church.
The religion discussion has so far garnered the most interest and anticipation, noted Novak, in part because most people don’t have relationships outside their personal religious groups and are seeking a sense of understanding between religions.
