Fasting Across the Faiths Symposium & Ramadan Iftar Dinner
As hate rises amid a fleeting world abounding in temporal distractions, the blessed month of Ramadan serves to transcend materialism towards a grander spiritual purpose; our relationship with the Creator and each other. It was in this very month fourteen centuries ago that the Holy Quran was revealed, as foretold, to an unlettered orphan named Muhammad (PBUH) for the Divine guidance of all peoples and times. In gratitude to God for bringing humanity out of darkness into enlightenment again, Muslims spanning the globe unify to illustrate a pillar of Islam through collective fasting from dawn to dusk and elevated worship. The training of self-restraint and corporeal hunger induce compassion and solidarity with the underprivileged, while enhanced prayers, promoting peace and eschewing injustice promises righteousness in society.
Learn how united our Faith traditions are in this essential practice and why we all do it. Experience the blessing of Iftar, the opening of the fast at sunset, in togetherness alongside diverse communities in a House of Prayer where hearts unite and miracles alight. Discover firsthand how the observance of fasting takes us closer to God and the destitute by not living on bread alone.
Kindly RSVP at zahir.mannan@ahmadiyya.us or 860-670-6402.
