“Dr. Syed Basharat Ahmad Shah was Awarded the coveted Fellowship of the Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Research (IAAVR) in recognition of his academic achievements and outstanding research contributions in the field of Veterinary and Animal Sciences coupled with his social, public and humanitarian services and achievements at the Inaugural Session of the prestigious 17thIndian Veterinary Congress 2017 on 8th of April 2017 (held jointly with the 24th Annual Conference of IAAVR and National Symposium on “New Generation vaccines, Diagnostics for Improvement of Animal & Poultry Health & Productivity vis-à-vis Genomic Interventions for the Societal Benefit” at the University of Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly, India on 8-9th of April, 2017).” www.iaavr.org
The award was given by Honorable Prof. Dr. T. Mohapatra, Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Government of India, New Delhi, who is also Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India together with Dr. Manmohan Singh, special Chief Secretary, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and Vice Chancellor Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University Andhra Pradesh, Dr. G.N. Singh, Drug Controller General of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, Dr. R.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor IVRI, Prof. Dr. N.S. Rathore, Deputy Director General of ICAR and a galaxy of other dignitaries on the dais.
This type of recognition from the prime national and internationally affiliated institutions incorporating scientists from more than 100 Universities is a matter of prestige in the scientific world. Fellowships like these are awarded only to persons of eminence like Vice Chancellors of Universities, Deans of the Faculties, Chief scientists who have written many books, hundreds of research papers and guided a sizeable number of Ph. D scholars etc.
He happens to be the first person from Jammu and Kashmir to have received this distinction.
