USA: Ahmadiyya Muslims of Glen Ellyn Celebrate ‘Messiah Day’ at Bait-ul-Jamay Mosque

On March 23, 2015 the Glen Ellyn chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community celebrated the anniversary of their establishment. More than 300 men, women and children of the community attended the meeting.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a group of Muslims who strive to demonstrate to the world what true Islam is with the guidance of His Holiness Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah (pbuh), whose mission was to guide the world through the teaching of the Holy Quran and the practice and teachings of the Holy Prophet of Islam Muhammad peace be on him.

On this day i.e. March 23 in the year 1889, Ahmad – the Messiah, initiated this movement and 40 faithful followers of his accepted him and and thus this community was founded in a small city in the Punjab province of India.

On the 124th anniversary of its founding i.e. today the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has spread across 206 countries and has a membership exceeding tens of millions of followers worldwide, All Praise is to the Gracious God.

“During this time which is of turmoil in the Middle East and racial issues in our own country, the message of peace and tolerance that true Islam teaches is of the utmost importance”, said the Imam shamshad.

The Glen Ellyn chapter of this community celebrated locally at the Baitul Jammay Mosque.

The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by members, Kashif Qadri and Ismael Khan, who spoke to shed light on the “History of Ahmadiyyat” and its “Divine purpose” of coming into being.

National Secretary agriculturalist, Nasir Malik spoke on how to plant gardens for the upcoming season so that members of this community could create a self-sustaining lifestyle in order to benefit themselves and this nation.

Imam Shamshad A. Nasir of Baitul Jammay reminded people of the teachings of true Islam.

Imam Nasir also mentioned the 10 conditions of initiation (bai’it) in brief as mentioned by the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Comunity His Holiness Mirza ghulam ahmad of Qadian, so as to renew commitment towards the community as did first 40 members over a 100 years ago.

“The purpose of the Messiah was to help re-establish the relationship between God & His best creation, this is us, by focusing on basic teachings such as observing the 5 daily prayers and following the examples set by the Holy Prophet”, Imam shamshad mentioned.

“A pious person is the one who takes lead in forgiving mistakes of his brother and an unfortunate person does the opposite and never forgets others mistakes,” Imam Nasir reminded the teaching of the promised Messiah to the audience.

The event ended with delicious dinner which was served to all for the occasion.
