US secretary of state, John Kerry, suggests that protecting the beseiged Syrian town of Kobani is not a primary objective of US-coalition forces. ‘As horrific as it is to watch in real time what’s happening in Kobani … you have to step back and understand the strategic objective,’ he says at a news conference with the UK foreign secretary, Philip Hammond

  1. Wow. This might go into the history of media, or at least in the history of John Kerry’s addresses, as one of the most … how should I say it politely … ‘non-issues’? How horrible it must be for the refugees from Kobani to listen to that!
