More than 150 people covered distances of 5km and 10km in the first Where’s Wally run in the city to help the National Literacy Trust.

First to cross the finish line in the 10k was Ataul Quddous Ahmed, a 27-year-old journalism student who’s raising £35,000 for eight different charities.

He said: “This is event number 12 out of 18 I’m doing this season. It’s the most fun one I wanted to take part in.

“I’m part of the Ahmadiyya muslim community, you see a lot of negative press about muslims which is one reason I decided to do this. Islam teaches you should be loyal to your country.

“The reaction has been absolutely brilliant, I’ve loved the support and this is the first event in the whole season I’ve come first in.”

The Londoner will also be taking part in the Birmingham half marathon in two weeks. You can support him by going online to justgiving.com/season2014
