EID MILAN GET-TOGETHER 2013
AHMADIYYA MUSLIM JAMAAT, MUMBAI, INDIA
Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Mumbai successfully hosted an Eid Milan Get-together on Sunday evening, 18 August 2013 at Hotel Tip Top Plaza, Thane (west) for the fourth consecutive year. Having earlier organized Eid Milan Get-togethers in the city of Mumbai, this year the city of Thane was selected as the venue – a move which was very well received by all.
Thane city, a neighbouring city of Mumbai, is one of the oldest cities of India, dating as far back as 2000 years. It has a population of about 25 lakhs, and is often referred to as the City of Lakes, due to the presence of 35 lakes spread over the city.
Traditionally, the event began with recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Moulvi Roshan Ahmed Tanvir Sahab (Deputy Muballigh, Mumbai) followed by Marathi Translation by Mr. Shaikh Rafique (Secretary, External Affairs Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Mumbai) and English Translation being read out by Mr. Imran Ahmed Raichuri.
An introductory speech in Marathi – the local language of Maharashtra, by Mr. Ahmadi Taher Ahmad (Qa’id, & Zonal Qa’id, Mumbai Zone), spoke about the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at and its worldwide humanitarian activities. He specifically mentioned about the message of peace and brotherhood being spread through our slogan – Love for All, Hatred for None; and its practical implementation through the efforts of Humanity First.
These words were put to life through a visual display of a documentary on the same subject. The visual clippings made a visible impression on the distinguished guests, and the efforts were praised in their speeches later in the day.
Padmashri Muzaffar Hussain, a senior and eminent journalist and who is a known figure in literary and political circles; who also had the privilege of visiting Qadian at Jalsa Salana, and conducting an interview with Hazrat Khalifatul-Maseeh IV (ra). An ardent admirer of the Ahmadiyya Jama’at, he praised with words packed with emotion, the community’s efforts in promoting love and brotherhood through peaceful means.
Chief Guest of this event Dr. Sanjeev Ganesh Naik – Member of Parliament, India represents (Thane and Navi Mumbai Constituency), said that he was truly impressed by the humanitarian work being done by the Ahmadiyya Jama’at throughout the world, in countries as diverse, as America and Africa. He suggested that awareness of these efforts of the Ahmadiyya Jama’at should be made on a larger scale, even to his other colleague Members of Parliament in the capital.
Mr. Manoj T. Shinde, Secretary – Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee Member (Congress) lauded the appreciable work done by the Ahmadiyya Jama’at and thanked for organizing of this Eid Milan Get-together, which was the first-of-its-kind program in the city of Thane.
Mr. Harishchandra Shripat Patil – Mayor of Thane Muncipal Corporation (Shiv Sena), in his speech expressed his keen desire that a program, with such noble intentions should not be limited to the confines of a hall; but should be organized on a much larger scale, so that it reaches out to more people. He added that he would be glad to offer all possible assistance in the matter.
Mr. Sardar Tara Singh, Member of Legislative Assembly (BJP), Maharashtra – Mulund, appreciated the Ahmadiyya Jama’at’s message of brotherhood, and expressed that we should bear in mind that although our paths may be different, all religions lead to the same ultimate goal.
Mr. Shamsher Khan Pathan, Retired ACP (Mumbai Police) and National President – Awami Vikas Party, has known the Ahmadiyya Jama’at since 1992. He fondly remembered his interactions
with Maulvi Burhan Ahmad Zafar, through whom he first came to know about the Ahmadiyya Jama’at. He appreciated and requested the Ahmadiyya Jama’at to continue doing the good work with patience and perseverance, which he said, is ultimately always rewarded.
Other distinguished guests present were Mr. Ismail Batliwala, President – All India Muslim Mahaz, (Mumbai); Dr. Gajanan Desai, Diabetes Specialist & Intellectual (Thane); Mr. Abdul Khalid Qureshi, Vice President – Congress Minority Cell (Mumbai); Mr. Abhijeet Rane, Chief Editor – Mumbai Mitra, Crusader, Leader; Mr. Chouhan, Senior Police Inspector, Wagle Police Station, (Thane); Mr. Gyan Singh Rathod (Businessman & Reporter), members from dawoodi bohra and many other eminent guests who participated in this event.
The program was also attended by members of Ahmadiyya Jama’at from other parts of maharashtra and reporters from Sahara India, Varta, local newspapers & various news agencies. The audience comprised of people from all walks of life.
Later, Maulvi Shaikh Ishaque, Missionary In-charge, Mumbai Jama’at summarized the aims and objectives of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at behind organizing such events. He ended his speech with a Sanskrit shloka, invoking prayers for a universal harmony and peace amongst all mankind.
In the end Mr. Masarrat Ahmad Mundasgar, President – Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Mumbai in his presidential address expressed that, views of the guests would serve as a guidance in all future endeavors of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat and thanked the distinguished guests and all members of the audience, for taking out time and gracing the event with their presence. He expressed sincere gratitude to all those who had encouraged and assisted in organizing this Eid Milan Get-together.
The program ended with a Silent Prayer and the National Anthem, followed by a buffet for all attendees of the function.
We have established a Book Stall within function hall and distributed Holy Quran, literature and various books free of cost to guests who participated in function.
Mr. Mohammed Khurshid Alam was the Anchor for the program.
