The fate of Ahmadiyah, displaced in their own country

BBC: Until this time period there were about 30 Ahmadiyah families living in camps in Wisma Transito in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara.

Since seven years ago, Ahmadiyah congregation fled their village in Ketapang, West Lombok after experiencing intimidation and violence which led to the forced evictions.

Since then their lives adrift in a life of uncertainty in many social and economic barriers.

Wisma Transito in their daily lives indoors, limited to banners rags, cardboard boxes or sacks as a separator between a family with another family.

In a narrow swath and stuffy that they share a bed, cooking and doing other family activities in the same space filled with limitations.

During his stay at the shelter, the necessities of life they had supported local government aid groceries, but since 2007 no more aid flowing.

In order to survive, they work odd jobs, a coolie, mengasong, or motorcycle taxi lived for a bite of rice.

Yet when they used to live in the village counted wealthy, owning land and homes as well as permanent jobs.

“Many have sold their land in the village to cover the cost of living here,” said Nashirudin.

Ahmadiyah was founded by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) in 1889 in a small village named Qadian, Punjab, India. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as a Mujaddid title, the Messiah, and the Mahdi.

They are Abubakar Ayyub, Nur al-Din Ahmad and Zaini Dahlan.

Originally Jihadists would go to Egypt, because it was known as the Cairo Centre for Islamic Studies.However, they suggested that teachers go to India because the country started to become the center of Islamic thought Modernization.

Violence against Ahmadiyah congregation rose dramatically after the Suharto regime, and increasingly in the future after President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono issued a decree in 2008 that is considered anti-Ahmadiyya.
