Iran commends Jordan’s position on Syria

AMMAN — JORDAN TIMES. Iran on Sunday praised Jordan’s position regarding the Syrian crisis as rational and logical.

Speaking at a press conference at the Iranian embassy in Amman, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian commended the Kingdom’s calls for a political and peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis, noting that this approach is reasonable.

The Iranian diplomat said Tehran cannot accept any foreign intervention in Syria, and believes that a political solution is the only way to end the crisis, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Amir-Abdollahian noted that his visit to the Kingdom was to examine means to enhance bilateral cooperation, stressing that there is nothing that prevents development of the Jordanian-Iranian ties.

Earlier on Sunday, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh met with the Iranian official and discussed means to enhance relations.

The visiting official presented to Judeh a message from his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi, conveying his wishes to enhance bilateral ties with Jordan.

Amir-Abdollahian also met with, alongside Iran’s Ambassador to Jordan Mostafa Mosleh-Zadeh, Senate President Taher Masri.

Masri reviewed the latest developments in Syria with the Iranian official, stressing the need to end violence and resolve the crisis through dialogue, Petra said.

  1. This is ‘diplomatic nice talk’. No Jordanian bank will touch a money transfer to and from Syria, thus contributing significantly to the blokade and thus misery of the people of Syria. Small detail overlooked?
