- The Lampung MUI urged the public to exercise restraint and prohibit all forms of violence related to the planned Jalsah Salanah JAI on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
- The Chairperson of the Lampung MUI, KH Suryani M Nur, delivered the appeal at a coordination meeting of the Lampung Kominda with law enforcement officers and the local government.

SuaraLampung.id – Anticipating potential horizontal friction within the community, the Indonesian Ulema Council ( MUI ) of Lampung Province has asked all elements to exercise restraint in responding to the planned Jalsah Salanah activities of the Indonesian Ahmadiyah Congregation (JAI) in South Lampung Regency.
The MUI strictly prohibits acts of persecution, mass mobilization outside the legal corridor, and unilateral enforcement actions (sweeping) in the field.
This strong statement was emphasized by the Chairperson of the Lampung MUI, KH Suryani M Nur , in a coordination meeting of the Lampung Regional Intelligence Committee (Kominda), Tuesday (22/9/2026).
The strategic meeting, led by the Head of the Lampung Regional State Intelligence Agency (Kabinda), Suryono, was also attended by the Forkopimda ranks, Assistant I of the Lampung Provincial Government, M. Firsada, Kesbangpol, the Head of the FKUB, and representatives from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion.
Suryani emphasized that early detection based on verified intelligence data and direct communication with the committee are key to analyzing the agenda plan.
“Direct communication with the organizers is necessary to confirm the intent, purpose, materials, and location of the Jalsa Salana. Handling should not be reactive, but rather objective based on the facts on the ground,” Suryani emphasized.
The Lampung MUI stated that it remains steadfast in adhering to the theological corridor through MUI Fatwa Number 11/MUNAS VII/MUI/15/2005 which stipulates that the Ahmadiyah sect is outside of Islam, heretical and misleading.
In addition, the government and law enforcement officials are encouraged to act firmly in accordance with the Joint Decree of the Three Ministers (SKB of the Minister of Religion, Attorney General, and Minister of Home Affairs in 2008) which regulates restrictions on the activities of these sects.
Despite urging proportional law enforcement, Suryani reminded the public not to overstep the authority of state officials.
“If there are people who object, channel their protests through legitimate legal mechanisms, not violence. Anarchic actions, intimidation, vandalism, sweeps, and especially vigilantism are absolutely not justified,” he said, as quoted from the Lampung MUI website.
To reduce escalation, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and the Ministry of Religion are ready to take on the role of religious guidance using a peaceful and persuasive approach.
Security forces and local governments were also asked to engage with religious and community leaders in South Lampung to prevent any potential mass mobilization that could lead to physical clashes.
Equally important, Suryani highlighted the dangers of provocation in cyberspace. She warned the public against falling for fake news (hoaxes) or spreading hate speech on social media, which could escalate the situation.
“Our top priorities are early detection, integrated coordination, and measured law enforcement. These steps are absolutely necessary to maintain harmony, peace, and stability in Bumi Ruwa Jurai,” he concluded.
