An Ahmadi man was left injured after a knife attack just days after another Ahmadi man and his son were injured after firing. The recent incident took place in Chak 194, Latthianwala (Faisalabad) and the case was registered by the Khurrianwala police.

In yet another incident of violence, an Ahmadi man was injured in a knife attack in Lathianwala, Faisalabad, on September 21, with police registering a case under attempted murder and hurt provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to the police report, Hamid Javed was attacked at around 5:30pm on September 21 near his residence in Chak No. 194-RB, Lathianwala, within the jurisdiction of the Khurrianwala Police Station.

Javed told police that he was returning home when he encountered an unidentified man, whom he described as being approximately 40 to 42 years old. According to his complaint, the man approached him and attacked him with a knife.

Javed raised an alarm and attempted to protect himself during the assault. The complaint states that people in the vicinity responded to his cries for help. The police report records that Javed sustained injuries during the attack.

The case was registered at the Khurrianwala Police Station as FIR No. 1670/26 on September 22 at approximately 4:30pm, following submission of Javed’s application to police.

Police registered the case under Sections 324 and 337-F(i) of the Pakistan Penal Code. (Section 324 relates to an attempt to commit *qatl-i-amd* or attempted murder, while Section 337-F(i) concerns a category of hurt punishable under the PPC).

The case is being investigated by ASI Muhammad Akram as investigating officer (IO). It also records the incident location as approximately four kilometres from Khurrianwala Police Station.

However the police report does not identify the alleged attacker by name and investigation into the incident was underway at the time of the report.

Condemnation of attack

The Ahmadiyya community, however, has alleged that the attack was motivated by Javed’s faith. In an official statement, the community condemned what it described as a “cowardly assault” and said the incident was part of a broader pattern of violence and hostility directed against Ahmadis in Punjab.

The community called on authorities to take immediate action against those responsible and to ensure protection for Ahmadis from further attacks.

It said continued incidents of hate-driven violence raised serious concerns about the safety of members of the Ahmadi community and warned that failure to take action could embolden those responsible for such attacks.

Meanwhile, the police FIR establishes the reported knife assault, injuries and registration of the criminal case, but does not address the allegation that the attack was specifically motivated by Javed’s faith.

This has been the second incident in three days. On Saturday, in Sargodha, an Ahmadi man and his son were both targeted by unknown assailants who fired at them and left them injured. Around a month ago, an Ahmadi man was shot dead in Mandi Bahauddin, while hateful banners were seen being displayed on main University Road in Sargodha.

There has been no response by the government in this regard.
