Samarinda, August 10, 2026 –  Differences in beliefs and organizational backgrounds did not become a barrier for the Pandu Ahlulbait Indonesia (ABI) East Kalimantan, Gusdurian Samarinda, and Ahmadiyah activists to build a space for dialogue and strengthen brotherhood.

The cross-community gathering took place at Cafe Fren.Co, Jalan Siradj Salman, Samarinda, Saturday (8/8/2026), as an effort to strengthen communication and build mutual understanding amidst diversity.

The meeting was attended by Surya, the coordinator of Gusdurian Samarinda, along with three members, Abbas, an Ahmadiyah activist from Samarinda, and Rizky Saputra, the chairman of the Pandu ABI East Kalimantan regional leadership (Pimwil). Also present were Muhammad from the Public Relations Division, and Ibrahim and Jawad from the Pandu ABI East Kalimantan Youth and Student Division.

In a warm atmosphere, each community shared their experiences regarding the organization’s history, its activities, and the challenges they face in interacting with the community. One topic discussed was the organization’s legal standing, particularly the experience of the Shia and Ahmadiyya communities.

The Head of the ABI East Kalimantan Regional Guidance Team, Rizky Saputra, said that face-to-face meetings are an important step in building understanding and reducing prejudice that often arises due to a lack of communication.

“Differences shouldn’t stop us from communicating. Through dialogue, we can get to know each other and understand each other’s backgrounds,” said Rizky.

According to Rizky, open dialogue can be a bridge to strengthen inter-community relations while fostering mutual respect in social life.

This spirit is also in line with the message of Imam Ali bin Abi Thalib in Nahj al-Balagha , Letter 53, which states, “People are of two types: your brothers in faith or your fellow human beings in creation.”

On the same occasion, Gusdurian Samarinda extended an invitation to participants to attend the commemoration of Gus Dur’s birthday, scheduled for August 29, 2026, in Samarinda. The event is expected to provide a shared space to strengthen the values of humanity, tolerance, and respect for diversity.

The gathering concluded with a shared commitment to maintain communication and open up opportunities for collaboration in various social, youth, and community activities in East Kalimantan.

The meeting was an effort to strengthen inter-community relations through dialogue, so that differences can become a meeting point for building togetherness and cooperation in community life.
