  1. On the 1964 Jalsa Salana in Rabwah I met one Ghanaian Alhaji Hassan Josef Al Atta. I asked him why his name was Josef and not Yusuf. His answer was that when he had to go to school the only school nearby was a Christian Missionary School. The Headmaster said that if you want to send your son to this school he has to be Christian. My father said ‘no problem, his name is Josef’.

    Ah, and actually that is why when Ahmadis reached Africa they decided to open schools, open to all…

    btw. Alhaji Al Atta had 44 children. When I met him years later I asked how many children he now has and he replied 44. When I showed my surprise he whispered: ‘family planning’ …. Ah well…
