Islamabad – A man from Pakistan ‘s Ahmadiyah minority group was beaten to death by a mobo n Friday (18/4). The deadly incident occurred after hundreds of radical Muslims surrounded the minority community’s place of worship in the port city of Karachi.


The masses, most of whom came from the anti-blasphemy political group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), as reported by AFP and Reuters , Saturday (19/4/2025), stormed the narrow streets in the Saddar area while shouting their slogans.

The raid was driven by angry mob anger over Ahmadiyah followers allegedly performing Friday prayers.

“One of the community members was killed after the mob identified him as an Ahmadi. They attacked him with sticks and bricks,” a senior Karachi Police official, Muhammad Safdar, told AFP .

“The mob included members of several religious parties,” he added.


Safdar said that the police detained around 25 Ahmadiyah followers for their safety.

An AFP journalist at the scene reported the presence of a prison van escorted by several police vehicles taking the Ahmadiyah followers away, after negotiating with a crowd of 600 people.
