Ahmadiyya Graveyard In Kotli, Azad Kashmir Vandalised; 76 Gravestones Desecrated

On March 21, 2025, unknown assailants vandalised the Ahmadiyya Graveyard in Kotli city, desecrating all 76 gravestones. The attack, which likely took place during Sehri hours, coincided with a power outage in the area, making it difficult to identify the culprits.

According to sources, the destruction of gravestones was a deliberate act targeting the Ahmadiyya community, which has faced growing religious persecution in Pakistan. The police have registered an FIR at Kotli City Police Station under Section 297 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with trespassing on burial sites. However, the perpetrators remain unidentified.

This incident is part of an ongoing pattern of attacks against Ahmadis in Pakistan, where their places of worship, homes, and even burial grounds have been repeatedly targeted. Despite constitutional guarantees of religious freedom, Ahmadis continue to face discrimination and violence, often with little accountability for the offenders.

Community leaders have condemned the desecration, calling for immediate action against those responsible. Rights activists have also urged authorities to ensure the protection of religious minorities and their sacred sites.
