In a moving display of communal harmony and brotherhood, local Muslims in Chandrigam Tral came together to assist in performing the last rites of their Sikh neighbor, Suraj Singh, who passed away suddenly due to a brain hemorrhage.
Locals of the area set aside religious differences and stood in solidarity with the grieving Sikh family, offering both emotional and logistical support during their time of loss.
Eyewitnesses recounted and said how Muslim neighbors actively participated in the funeral arrangements, ensuring that all rituals were carried out respectfully. “Suraj Singh was not just a neighbor; he was family to us. His loss is deeply felt by the entire village,” said one of the locals who assisted in the rites.
“This is the real essence of Kashmiriyat,” remarked an elderly resident, referring to the Kashmir’s syncretic ethos.
