Bandung, IDN Times – The sealing of the mosque belonging to the Indonesian Ahmadiyah Congregation (JAI) by Satpol PP in Nyalindung Village, Ngamplang Village, Cilawu District, Garut Regency, Tuesday (2/7/2024), has attracted a lot of attention.
Various community groups consider the steps taken by the Garut Regency Government through Satpol PP to be very detrimental to the values of tolerance. The sealing action itself was carried out by a mass organization calling itself Geram (Anti-Ahmadiyyah Movement), which is known not to be a local resident.
Meanwhile, based on the statement of the Head of RW 001 Ngamplang Village, Cilawu District, Garut Regency, Ali Nugraha said that Ahmadiyah in Nyalindung Village has existed for a long time and lives side by side peacefully with the community.
“The Ahmadiyah community here has no problems with the local residents, they live in harmony and this is reflected in the various collaborations in social and sports activities that are often carried out,” said Ali in an official statement, quoted Wednesday (10/7/2024).

According to Ali, residents outside the Ahmadiyah congregation were involved in helping in the process of building the mosque. So, there was no friction or other actions in practicing faith in his area.
“As the RW here, of course I feel happy, where residents can live in harmony and help each other,” said Ali.
2. It is feared that closing the mosque will create conditions that are not conducive

Ali hopes that the actions taken by the Garut Regency Government by closing the mosque will actually make conditions less conducive.
“The closure that was carried out last night clearly made the public wonder, what is going on, we are worried that the closure will actually create conditions that are not conducive in the midst of a community that has been living in harmony side by side,” he said.
3. Ahmadiyah also did not find any residents protesting

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Garut Ahmadiyah DPD, Cecep Ahmad Sentosa, revealed that he had visited the location of the incident on Friday, July 5, 2024, or three days after the mosque was closed.
In Nyalindung, he did not see any complaints or protests from local residents. In fact, Cecep said, the Ahmadiyah group had performed Friday prayers at one of the congregation’s houses.
“We see that Ahmadiyah residents and local residents have no problems, as usual they live safely and comfortably,” said Cecep.
For information, Ahmadiyah in Nyalindung Village, Ngamplang Village, Cilawu District, Garut Regency has existed since the 1970s and lives peacefully side by side with other residents.
Ahmadiyah in Nyalindung uses the mosque as a place of worship such as the five daily prayers, reciting the Quran, and as a means of educating children about Islam.
