Bandung: Regional Secretary of West Java Province Herman Suryatman admitted that he had not received data regarding the sealing of places of worship used by the Ahmadiyah congregation in Garut, but he asked for a return to the existing provisions and regulations.
“We’ll check first, I haven’t got the data yet. Of course we’ll return it to the provisions, we’ll return it to the laws and regulations, I’ll check later,” said Herman at Gedung Sate Bandung, Tuesday, July 8, 2024.So far, in West Java, the West Java Governor Regulation Number 12 of 2011 concerning the Prohibition of Activities of the Indonesian Ahmadiyah Congregation is still in effect as a follow-up to the Joint Decree of the Three Ministers which regulates the spread of Ahmadiyah activities. In addition, regarding the sealing, Herman asked all parties, especially the community, to remain calm and restrain themselves.
“What is clear is that we ask for restraint, we are jointly maintaining the conduciveness of West Java, that’s all. Meanwhile, we must coordinate with the Regional Police, MUI and other related parties, including Kesbangpol,” he said.

Previously reported, the government sealed a building used as a place of worship by the Indonesian Ahmadiyah congregation in Garut, where the local government asked them to stop their activities.The sealing of the building located in one of the villages in Cilawu District, Garut Regency was carried out by joint officers on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. According to the Head of Intelligence for the Garut District Attorney’s Office, Jaya P Sitompul from the Garut Community Belief Supervisory Team (Pakem), the sealing was carried out by Satpol PP and the Pakem Team.The team consists of several government and non-government agencies in Garut, including the District Attorney’s Office, Polres, Kodim 0611/Garut, Ministry of Religion, Kesbangpol Agency, Satpol PP, Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), and the Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB)
