BALIKPAPAN- Even though there has been a Joint Decree (SKB) of Three Ministers regarding the prohibition of the spread of Ahmadiyah teachings which are contrary to the Islamic religion, in fact up to now the followers of these teachings who are members of the Indonesian Ahmadiyah Congregation (JAI) continue to carry out their religious activities. Even in Balikpapan City they are quite free to spread their teachings.

When confirmed by Balikpapan Pos at the JAI Secretariat in one of the houses in Gunung Samarinda Baru Village, Jamaludin Feeli, who claims to be a leader of Ahmadiyah teachings in East Kalimantan, confirmed that until now Ahmadiyah is still continuing its activities as usual.

He said that Ahmadiyah had come to Balikpapan since the beginning of 2000, but only established a permanent place which is currently occupied as a secretariat office around 2004-2005.

“The house here was built in 2004-2005, before this house existed, it was already active, only from house to house,” said Jamaludin when interviewed regarding Ahmadiyah activities in Balikpapan.

When asked about the prohibitions contained in the Three Ministerial Decree regarding the Ahmadiyah Congregation, Jamaludin emphasized that there were no prohibitions against Ahmadiyah. However, he said, what is prohibited is conveying the teachings of any prophet after the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

“There is no ban on Ahmadiyah, it is just a warning. It was celebrated because of the MUI. “Ahmadiyah are prohibited from conveying the belief that there are prophets after the Prophet Muhammad, which is contrary to the basic teachings of Islam,” explained Jamaludin.

Jamaludin confidently denied that Ahmadiyah teachings did not violate Islamic teachings, and were still considered Islamic teachings. Although he also firmly said that Ahmadiyah believed that after the Prophet Muhammad SAW there was another prophet they believed in, namely Mirza Ghulam Ahmad.

According to the belief of the Ahmadiyah Congregation, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is the Imam Mahdi and Prophet Isa who was promised to come to earth. “The Prophet that Ahmadis believe in does not conflict with, in fact, it supports Muhammad. After the Prophet Muhammad there was another prophet, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, this is his personal name, his title is Prophet Isa and Imam Mahdi, the Ahmadiyah believe he is the promised Prophet Isa. But Prophet Isa was from the people of Prophet Muhammad. “So the Ahmadiyah believe that Imam Mahdi has come, the savior who unites humanity at the end of time,” explained Jamaludin. (moe/cal)
