France and Jordan teamed up to airdrop seven tons of urgent humanitarian and medical aid into the besieged Gaza Strip. ⁣

Jordan has previously carried out drops in Gaza. It was the first time the French air force had directly taken part in such an operation.⁣

The aid is for a field hospital set up in the city of Khan Younis, in the south of the enclave.⁣

France has so far supplied about 1,000 tons of aid into the enclave over land.⁣

A French presidency official said the operation, which took place on Thursday night, involved a French aircraft and a Jordanian plane.⁣

“In a difficult context, France and Jordan delivered aid by air to the population and those aiding them,” Macron wrote on X (formerly Twitter).⁣

“The humanitarian situation remains critical in Gaza” after three months of conflict, he added.⁣

The official declined to say what exactly was dropped or whether Israel had given the green light to the operation.⁣

Israel had approved a previous Jordanian air-dropped aid mission in November.⁣

The airdrops come three months after Hamas militants from Gaza attacked southern Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking around 240 people hostage.⁣

The attacks led to the current Israeli military operation against Hamas in Gaza, which has led to the deaths of more than 22,000 people.⁣

Nearly 2 million people — roughly 85% of the population — have been displaced, according to the UN. The humanitarian situation inside the Strip remains dire, with food, clean water and medicines in short supply.⁣

  1. Good, unfortunately totally insufficient. For 2 million people humanitarian aid should be delivered via the beaches by the navies of several countries. Why is that not happening? scared to be called anti semitic?
